Do you think hydra reinforced bucky's spine and collarbone with something to allow for the weight of the arm? Because even if it's vibranium (which is meant to be four times lighter that steel I think? I'm foggy on the facts) it would still definitely weigh more than the real arm that he lost. That being said, he does walk in a way that leans to his left suggesting maybe not? The knock-off serum might let him heal fast enough to stop any real damage from happening. Opinions?
i think there’s definitely some reinforcement there. like they’ve attached something that’s heavier than a flesh arm, and the body just isn’t built for that. even if it is vibranium, there’s still all of the mechanics to take into account
so there’s probably reinforcing in at least his left shoulder blade and collar bone, potentially down his spine and in the top few ribs on his left side
but then again, his slight lean to the left suggests that if there is reinforcing imo, it’s either spread over both sides equally (and therefore it’s the added weight of the arm that’s tipping him) or it’s primarily on the left side, which would be like the barest minimum to support the damned thing (if it was all on the right side -which would be illogical in the first place- it’d probably even out the weight)
i think the serum would help to an extent, heal any stress fractures that probably occur on a daily basis, stop the muscles and tendons from ripping under the strain, but hydra would have had to rely pretty heavily on the fact that the serum might help so i don’t think they would have risked their asset on an assumption
pluS if you look at how high up the metal comes on bucky’s arm, it indicates that they probably came into the shoulder fairly deeply, and it’s over the shoulder blade if i remember correctly? so there’s definitely something there, it’s just a matter of what
alternatively they just replaced some sections of bone with metal completely who the fuck knows with hydra
