Let's talk capsules some more.

What is a capsule? A small collection of clothes that can interchange and work together to create easy and cute outfits.

Are there rules? I say NO! Ha, you have your unique style, your things that you love to wear, and no one know what you will wear and love better than you.

People talk about 'neutrals' but I don't love black, grey, brown, or white? That is FINE!!! Anything can be a 'neutral' if it can mix and match with multiple other pieces in your capsule. The thing you don't want is to make an amazing pair of pants or skirt or jacket that clashes with everything else you own – unless you have a super eclectic style and can pull it off, this will just result in that awesome piece rarely getting worn. (Just ask the girl with amazing floral jeans she never wears ;p)

Does my entire wardrobe have to fit the capsule? NO!!! I mean unless you are a super minimalist and want to go that streamline then by all means go for it and I will bow to your amazing-ness. But for most of us our capsules will just be a portion of our overall wardrobe. That does mean that you should consider your closet as a whole when designing your capsule. What do you love to wear, what do you need the most, etc…

Here is a little glimpse of what fabrics my girl picked for her back to school capsule. I gave her free reign in my stash and the only piece I bought was the cheetah. So shop your stash first…you bought those fabrics for a reason, you might be surprised by how much you have that can blend together!
