Ok but the reason I love both Killian Jones and Lucifer Morningstar so much as characters is the fact they were set in their ways for so long, they were both a certain way for a very long time. Lucifer was the devil, running hell and being a torturer of his fathers making for millenia. Killian Jones was Captain Hook for thousands of years. The writers of Lucifer and the cast are open about the fact the show is about redemption, if the devil himself can be redeemed, is there hope for the rest of us?
And the reason I love Emma Swan and Chloe Decker so much is the fact that they havn’t be alive as long, they don’t have thousands of years of life. And yet they’re the ones that show the boys the way. With their wisdom, selflessness and good example. They inspire them to become better people. And it’s not like these woman havn’t had hard lives either, but they chose a different path. They did not push or force the men to change, but they severed as an inspiration.
There’s this awesome dynamic of change, redemption, forgiveness and seeing someone for who they are at heart. They give no excuses for bad behavior, but they allow for mistakes. The men had positive effects on them aswell, Killian opened Emma up to love and helps her to really live her life without walls. He provides security and love where she doesn’t feel she’s had it before. Lucifer has done similar to Chloe, getting her to loosen up and not be so serious all the time. He’s taught her allot about tolerance and allowing for people to be different, and not to judge until you’ve seen someones true character. He backs her up and takes her side.
There’s just this amazing message, that no matter how bad you’ve been or how shut off you are. There’s still possibility and hope for you if you’re willing to put in the effort. And no matter how messed up you are, you always have something to offer.
