Giving my OC medical trauma :]
I am ALWAYS curious to know more about Captain Eel!
THANK YOU <3 My blorbitos <3
Have a snippet of Captain Clay's boyscout of a first mate completely failing as a wingman. And Fred distracted by the prospect of lunch.
“Sir?” Fred sighed and turned, privately saddened by yet another obstacle between him and his lunch. “Yes?” The neatly turned out officer from earlier was standing behind him looking thoughtful. “The captain, he — you should know… he contains multitudes.” “Ah, I see,” said Fred, who was hungry and didn't see at all. “What I mean is — sometimes he contradicts himself.” “Ah, well, thank you for the head's up.”
A difficult client, then. Fred had dealt with plenty. No, not even the client this time. A third party with ideas. Admittedly, they were interesting and strange ideas. And the officer didn't look so much annoyed by his captain as he did oddly protective. Regardless, Fred was hungry. “Thank you,” he said again and left in search of his lunch.
Captain Eel Novel
I actually started it. Now to come up with a title other than Captain Eel*
Captain Clay was a peculiar man. Fred was used to peculiar men. The sea seemed to breed them. Like kelp. Or perhaps they sprung fully formed from the seafoam like Venus. Regardless of their origins, they would inevitably spend a lot of time with each other in cramped quarters with little other company, perhaps sleeping side by side in a room the size of a coat closet, returning to land even stranger than they had left it. And so the less peculiar of them became more peculiar with time and experience. Captain Clay was also an uncommonly attractive man, a fact of which Fred's own peculiarities made him far too aware.
*I fear Captain Eel has stuck
NOVEL PROGRESS
- Need to figure out a name for the love interest other than Captain Eel.
-Need to figure out a title for the book other than Captain Eel.
-Need to figure out a way to talk to my shipbuilder friend about the plot of this novel in which a shipbuilder falls in love with a sailor on a passenger vessel without making it sound like I'm flirting with him.
