Backstory: Qélï was born in the city of Xünáêŋ, located near the southern portion of Yîmêláŗ Province, the only daughter of a government official (mother, Mâká Üárák) and a writer (father, Sgér Qúq). She decided at a young age she would someday join Starfleet after meeting an ambassador from Earth.When she was old enough to enter what would be high school for humans she entered an exchange program and traveled to Earth to continue her education there. It was there she followed a special set of courses to train towards entering Starfleet academy, and upon graduating from basic schooling that's just where she ended up.
She majored exobiology and xenology, but of course has a rounded understanding of most other sciences, especially xenoanthropology and xenoarchaeology.
Her initial station on the cusp of the Dominion War was on a science vessel, intended for exploration and surveying. However as the war escalated they were forced to come to the aid of another vessel and became involved in the larger battle. Through severe damage and the lose of the higher officers Qélï gained control of the ship and managed to bring the ship safely through the worst of it.
Thanks to her efforts in this situation she was awarded her own commander after 5 years of leave and assisting with the rebuild of battered Federation and its allies. The current story takes place during her command of the USS Dorado, a deep space vessel with the mission to conduct an in depth study of the Gamma Quadrant.
