Smooth Sneaks

I had lots of fun at Dallas’ “Best Dive Bar” Lee Harvey’s on Saturday night with Captain and Camille. This shot above of some smooth rock footwear was taken during the heat of the evening. I’m sporting the new blue Sperry Top-Siders on the right, Mike Finkel has the retro red 70′s Puma sport shoe at top and on the left, Camille Cortinas went with the well worn classic Sperry Sailors. The pristine Converse Chuck Taylor All-Stars below belong to the beautiful and talented Michelle Sanguinetti.  How does Michelle keeps her sneaks so clean?  “I bleach them regularly..they don’t last as long, but it’s worth it”. 

It was a steamy, fun, show at the quirky haunt down in the Cedars area of Dallas. There were lots of familiar faces, captain hats, and band tees in attendance and just as we were about to kick off the evening, a party-bus full of Drag Queens (including evidently, a few from the Ru Paul Show) and their entourage popped in to help get the festivities started. 

To say the crowd was eclectic would be an understatement. By evening’s end, a few members of the Bandidos had arrived just to prove that the universe has a sense of humor in keeping things even. Actually, it’s a testament to the great vibes and the wonderful songwriting of the 70′s that can make folks from all walks of life stand shoulder to shoulder to sing (in their best falsetto and at the top of their lungs) “You make me feel like dancin”.  

It’s always a trip to play at Lee Harvey’s and this evening did not disappoint. Throw in a couple of Moscow Mules and a surprise visit from a few friends both old and new, and you have the makings of a giant smile. It’s become tradition of sorts for Lady Sax and I to cap off a Lee Harvey’s gig by visiting our local Waffle House in Sacshe, Texas. It’s quite a slice of Americana at 2AM let me tell you (both good an bad), but it’s always awfully yummy.
