“I wish you were here.” Lily’s voice was quiet as she talked into her phone. They had been facetiming earlier, but it was too dark to see one another now and Lily couldn’t be bothered to get out of bed to turn on the lights. “I want to bury my face in your hair.”
“Do you think we’re a little co-dependent?” Jamie’s voice sounded weird because she was whispering, trying to avoid waking Sirius who had fallen asleep on the couch in her room a couple hours earlier. It was late, they should go to sleep.
“No. I think you and Sirius are co-dependent. I think the argument could be made that Mary and I are co-dependent,” Jamie snorted, “But you and I have a healthy relationship.”
“I wish you were here too.” Jamie echoed. “I also want you to bury your face in my hair. When will you be back again?”
“We’re only visiting with gran for the weekend. I’ll be home Sunday evening.”
“Can I see you Sunday evening?”
“Please.” Lily pulled the covers up over her shoulder and pulled her legs up. “If you just show up, mum won’t say anything. I’ll just need a hug. A long hug, maybe a few kisses.”
“A hug and some kisses?” Jamie hummed as though she was thinking it over.
“I suppose I have enough kisses to spare.” Her voice got quieter at the end and Lily giggled, pressing her knuckles to her lips to try and stifle it. Her sister was in the room next door, but she was sure that she would be able to hear if she tried to listen. And she would try to listen.
“Did you wake, Sirius?” She asked.
“Just about.” Jamie yawned into the phone and Lily smiled.
“I suppose we should let him sleep in peace.”
“I suppose. I still wish you were here though.”
“Soon enough.” Lily grinned. “Goodnight, Jamie.”
