Once more into the breach - captainrepeatoffender
The Federation, Starfleet, Enterprise. Peter was surprised at how things had turned out. After New York, after everything the world had went through, it still managed to pick itself up and find a way to survive. Hell, it have done more than survived, it had found a way to flourish. Nothing he had seen over the last few hundred years had prepared him for any of this. He was actually glad people had managed not to blow themselves up.
Not that there hadn't been people that tried, other specials. He'd tried to keep an eye on them, especially the one person he knew was going to cause trouble. Sylar. They'd spared over the years, been there for each other over the years and wanted to kill each other. Right now, Sylar was in the disappeared stage he went through every so often. Peter had pretty much given up on ever redeeming the killer, it never seemed to last long. Sylar was who he was and Peter was who he was.
That's why he couldn't help but keep an eye on the other man. Which is why he ended up here on the bridge of the Enterprise, part of Section 31. It was the only way he could keep track of the dangerous specials and especially Sylar. But he'd lost track of him this time, there were so many more places he could hide now. Universes more. He didn't even have to look human anymore, if he didn't want to.
Glancing at the captain sitting in the chair, Peter let out a breath. "Are you sure we're heading in the right direction?" He knew they were but he couldn't help it. This was the first real lead he'd had in decades on Sylar and he wasn't going to lose him now. "How much longer until we get there?" Kirk was a good captain, he actually reminded him of what he'd been like...before. He didn't like remembering that part of his life, of being so naive. Kirk had no idea of what the mission was and Peter wasn't going to tell him. It didn't concern him anyway.
