Why did Emma take on the darkness? The second picture answers this question. The darkness had to be contained or it would rip through the entire town destroying everyone and everything…including everyone Emma loves (as featured in the first picture). Emma was the only one that could take on the darkness as her light & pure heart would be able to resist the temptation.
