Dreamsalon (Seattle, Washington) was one of my favorite early Bandcamp purchases. It was one of many purchases on Captcha Records (one of my go to labels in the early 2010s).
"On The Bus" came on my shuffle player today and I was immediately transported back. I just remembered how much I loved this record. Now, over 11 years later, I can see how they were plying a sound that sounded like Spray Paint, Love As Laughter or The Men. Listening to this again, I recall thinking the song "Splits" was my favorite. Still is.
Captcha went offline years ago, but a quick look at Discogs showed me that vinyl versions are available at reasonable prices.

Kikagaku Moyo (Tokyo, Japan) have certainly made a name for themselves over the years. They began releasing music on the now defunct Captcha Records, and then moved onto Beyond Beyond Is Beyond (which appears to be on hiatus).
"Kumoyo Island" is set to be released on the Dutch label Guruguru Brain. A couple of years ago we posted about the amazing Thai band คณะ เบียร์บูด (Khana Bierbood) on the same label. While the two bands do share some similarities, "Kumoyo Island" tends to a more world approach to music. Sometimes this has the feel of "Remain in Light" by Talking Heads and at other times it sounds like Mdou Moctar has joined the band. Finally, sometimes this reminds me of Finnish band Kiki Pau (the two bands were releasing music on Beyond Beyond Is Beyond at the same time)
This is world/psych/rock/experimental music at its finest.

Lorelle Meets the Obsolete are from Mexico (this record was recorded in Ensenada), but they sound like Krautrock, filtered through 90s shoegaze, filtered through late 60s psych rock. I bought “Chambers” in 2014, and this new record seems to up the kraut/groove influence.
Captcha Records is releasing this and I’ve got to say that this is the perfect label for this band. It should be mentioned that Lorelle Meets the Obsolete have more pop sounds than some of the Captcha stable.
This was mastered by Mikey Young (Total Control among other bands).

I’ve posted Kikagaku Moyo before. This is beautifully constucted music. It has a psych-folk feel - sometimes more instrumental than vocal. It reminds me at times of the excellent Chuck Johnson “Velvet Arc” album that was recently released on Trouble in Mind. At other times it has the soft edge of Doug Tuttle (another Trouble in Mind artist). If you’re quick you can order this through Captcha Records for only $22. Otherwise it looks like you’ll have to spend some yen to get it.
