The orcas at SeaWorld Orlando getting amazing enrichment. Also, I’m extremely happy to see they’ve put some rocks at the bottom of the pool.

The good that zoos and aquariums do is often overlooked and straight up ignored. Without them though, an incredible number of species would be extinct or still vastly misunderstood and demonized.
A rant about something.
i've been following what's happening with the marineland Canada belugas and the park basically threatening to put them down. and......frankly I realized...I don't care what happens to the Marineland Canada belugas anymore.
Like if these healthy animals really are euthanized it would be very tragic but i'm just so stressed and done with everything to the point i won't really care
to be clear, i'm not advocating for euthanasia and want the best for these animals. frankly i'm just hopeless man.
We have so much going wrong RN with wikie and keijo, i think Katina is sick, and now this? i know it's wrong to say this but a bit of me wants all of them gone so I don't have to stress anymore.
this is a big reason i've had to take a step back from the cetacean community recently, i no longer really edit the wiki i used to work for because i'm just so stressed about all this.
Morgan gave birth to a healthy baby and she's taking good care of it!

A thing I want to point out about Jon Kershaws claims about them not seperating mom and calf (Wikie and Keijo). At their first day back in buisness after the flooding, Keijo was seperated from Wikie after the first show and until the park closed. Keijo did nothing else but logging at the pool gate to the pool which Wikie and Moana was in, while Inouk was swimming in circles for the rest of the day. Keijo (who was kept with Inouk) was only united with Wikie and Moana during the show afterwards. I can’t tell if he was united with her again after the park closed though.
@ulibugs and @classykalia I don’t remember feeling as though MSQ was “falling apart.” I do feel like it wasn’t as…classy(?) as SeaWorld. I feel like SeaWorld puts more effort into an aesthetic for guest then MSQ does. But I don’t think that aesthetic impacts the animals. In general the park just had a smaller, more worn down feel but again they aren’t this huge theme park giant that SeaWorld is. But I didn’t think this translated to the actual care of the tanks etc it was really like they just weren't putting the money into impressing tourists and I can forgive them for that (I will say that I may not have noticed. I didn’t take as much note as I probably should have because our community was so inactive at that point on the pro side and I’m not taking note for antis). I will say I was not at all thrilled with the manatee habitat and the size of Toki’s tank isn’t any better in person. But I’m not offering judgement on either. I tend to be on the same page as Ulibugs in regards to Toki's tank. I'm also planning on visiting again, but hoping to again not have to pay since I'm not sure I'd want to go otherwise. As far as others that have visited, I believe that @eventingkhaleesi also visited recently. Idk if she's willing to offer up commentary since I barely was. Forgive me for tagging you if not.
Am I the only one that finds people saying "another one bites the dust" about Unna passing disgusting and insensitive? I saw two different antis say that and nobody seemed to have a problem with it and it just seems so gross to me.
I thought you liked Seaworld?
I wouldn’t say I dislike SeaWorld. But I do think that they operate from a business standpoint first. Which makes them not ideal to most people. I wouldn’t even say I disapprove of them operating that way. They are a theme park after all. And I think they make shitty decisions sometimes. Their PR team is often a joke. I wished they incorporated more education in their shows (admittedly not as much as antis want, the very educational show I saw at MSQ had people just talking so we couldn’t hear and people falling asleep). I also don’t appreciate the way the staff is often dishonest with people, for instance, I won’t ask trainers anything.
But I do like a lot about SeaWorld. I do think their animals are well-cared for and I do think that they provide a lot of education. Every animal exhibit features an educator that narrates and will also answer questions. Not to mention the education provided in extra experiences that you can pay for.
I don’t think SeaWorld is infallible and I think they could do a lot better but I would say I “like” them.
I could and probably should ramble more on this topic but I’m not really feeling it right now.
