I wasn't so fond of kpop at first either 😳 when my friend was stuck in her army phase I was listening to classic rock exclusively, so I couldn't understand the sudden hype about bts and kpop in general at all lol but I think mic drop was the song that ended up convincing me to listen to more??
the weird thing was the complete 180 bc when I listened to rock I rarely cared about the visual of the band or their personality in general but kpop is kind of based on all of that? but I love being part of both worlds and having access to so much music 😌

i had about 4 friends who were all obsessed with kpop and i was just sitting there like 😐😐 i only know fob and p!atd. i also didn't really get it, but i was also very much a hater of boy bands in general. i think thanxx by ateez made me want to listen to more kpop.
the EXACT same thing happened to me with visuals, i was like "yeah one of them had a fedora and the other has curly hair and the other wears guy liner whatever." and now i’m like "ooooo soonyoung so hot 🥵🥵".
i feel like i enjoy the music the same amount, but there's an added layer to it. it's more of an experience to listen to kpop as opposed to other genres of music.
some recommendations band wise: fall out boy is my absolute favorite band, i love their music. my favorite fob album is "folie a deux". panic! at the disco was also a good band but i feel like as the years progress their music gets worse :/ my favorite album of theirs is "a fever you can't sweat out".
some songs: "a match into water" by pierce the veil, "grand theft autumn/where is your boy" by fall out boy, "dear maria count me in" by all time low, "but it's better if you do" by panic!at the disco, "thnks fr th mmrs" by fall out boy, "all the small things" by blink 187, and "27" by fall out boy are some of my favs.
