FOR ALL HE WERE A SOCIAL BUTTERFLY KATSUE TENDED TO BE AVOIDANT OF THE HERO COURSE, aware that his cousin was a member of Class 1-A in specific & his personality had always out-shadowed his own, always shone through & left Katsue with a struggle to make friends when he was so different from Katsuki, when people had always preferred him. It was also a worry of Katsue’s that perhaps he may be mistaken for Katsuki, that someone may take out their anger towards his cousin on him.
( it had happened once, in middle school. someone angered by his cousin had hurt katsue & left him afraid & sobbing & bragged about it the next day, only to realise it hadn’t been katsuki at all & since then he had gone through the effort to change his hair to look separate — no one had ever paid attention to the difference between their eyes, amethyst purple against crimson red. calm against cruel. )
It was easier, being in the general education course, because people had the time to get to know Katsue before his cousin had made his appearance as an arrogant idiot during the sports festival, no one had assumed he was much like Katsuki because they knew he wasn’t already — even if they barely knew him at all.
He had been aimlessly wandering when he almost ran into someone, barely managing to stop & practically jump backward, eyes wide as he stared at the girl for a few moments before speaking, voice quiet. ❝I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to almost knock you over.❞
