A selection of my most recent commissions batch!! <3 I had a flat tire recently and had to pay a buttload to get my tires replaced as well as an emergency tow service to actually help me with my tire...

These were a lot of fun and challenging in a few ways! I’m also pumped to be back on the drawing game again. :3

So many different lessons in this little pot... It started off as a lidded jar demo, then morphed into a lesson on the many variations of shino - vertical stripes are wax resist, horizontal stripes are an iron oxide wash, both applied over the glaze as soon as it was dry to the touch. The lid has more orange because it's thinner, so absorbed less water and has a thinner coat of glaze. Lots of carbon trapping, due to being glazed a week before firing, so the soda ash could migrate to the surface, and being placed in the top of a down draft kiln.... And the final lesson, how to remove stubborn lids with a little rinsing, freezing and tapping with a wooden mallet is yet to come..... #ceramics #pottery #demo #shinot #carbontrap #somanythingstolearn #doaneceramics (at Doane University)

#mugshotmonday ? Eh it's not a mug but it's a nice shot. I have been playing around with a shino glaze and the more I do the more success I have the more I keep chasing that rabbit down the hole. Today I glazed more work with a carbon trap shino and did some after glaze experiments. Experimental Saturday, that's a thing right? If not who cares I'm doing it anyways. I decided on a whim to throw some Malcolm Davis carbon trap shino over the top of this Bernard leach base copper red/blue just to see what would happen. We have all heard the shino first or suffer the curse motto and I just had to see what would happen. As Katy Perry said "I kissed a girl" oh wait it was the "I liked it" part I needed to quote.
