The 5 of Pentacles is a shitty shit card. When sensitive, enlightened people get up on soap boxes about there being "no truly negative cards~~~" I wanna tell them to shut their yaps and take a gander at this pile of sad. BUT MAYBE just maybe it's not quite as bad when it winds up along side the right neighbor(s). I think The Chariot brings something... well not positive, exactly, but something redemptive out of the 5OP. Like you choose to put yourself out for a greater cause, to go somewhere more important, or to better align yourself with what matters more to you. Leaving a job where you get treated like sentient garbage and subsequently being strapped for cash, leaving school and having your family suddenly look at you like you just got a big middle finger tattooed to your forehead, etc; these are just some 5 Of Pentacles experiences that you could CHOOSE for yourself because you know they are right but still be "put out" or otherwise rejected by the larger culture you're part of. And that still feels bad, man but at least if you decide for yourself there's some dignity in being left out in the cold.

These two were together in my daily draw this morning. It makes me really happy to have experiences with The Tower that are positive. When that dumb tower comes down you'll have a much better view of the stars.

Don't mind me if you're not into this particular pastime, but I notice that the 9 of Pentacles is like SUPER inextricably linked with marijuana and in any context possible; the actual smoking, the buying&selling (which makes sense to the context of this being a Pentacle I guess) or just discussing the topic. Many variations on the 9 of Pentacles depict a woman drinking wine in a comfortable space, so I think this is where we can make a connection with relaxation. If I drank wine, I'd receive this card when I enjoyed some wine... But I don't drink wine lol I've seen people in their interpretations personify the Hanged Man as a stoner. The thoughtful passivity and inertia certainly make it sound like a good fit. We can connect being under an influence to the upside down perspective of the figure of The Hanged Man. I could definitely picture the Hanged Man being the card of shower thoughts, highdeas and erudite stoners, etc. I wanted to make some sort of pun on the phrase "HANGING OUT" about seeing them together but I can't think of any good way to do it but blah blah blah you get the idea👀✌🌿🔥💨

Asked: "what do I most need to know right now?" That there's nothing you can do. I think "surrendering" and "giving up" are two different things... if the 10 of Swords came alongside Death I'd say give up. But the Hang Man and High Priestess aren't quitting, they're just waiting. This is why I'm getting "surrender" from the 10 of Swords. Given their passivity, the Hang Man and Priestess are also cards that I think deal with faith and the need to accept something as it is for now. It sounds so nice and easy when you say it like that, but this is maybe among my least favored tarot combinations. I feel so helpless right now and all there is to do is sit quietly and hope for the best. This is the worst feeling for me. I'm tired of waiting for this (thing) to get better. I'm definitely at the end of something... this can't stay the way it is, but it's not turning into anything else yet either.

So here's how I'd read this: you moved away from a negative experience. It's better now, but left you feeling suspicious and inflated your need to be self-reliant. You won't give up, you will persist and keep hammering away, but that negative experience is always at your back and will keep you looking over your shoulder (as the figure in the 7 does, and as the figure in the 8 would have to do to keep an eye on the 7).
