I was gifted The Wonderland Tarot for Christmas after having my eyeball on it for a long time. It's clever and charming and weird and exciting and I love it! These are my most favorite cards (especially The Devil!!! So cool!!!)
The 5 of Pentacles is a shitty shit card. When sensitive, enlightened people get up on soap boxes about there being "no truly negative cards~~~" I wanna tell them to shut their yaps and take a gander at this pile of sad. BUT MAYBE just maybe it's not quite as bad when it winds up along side the right neighbor(s). I think The Chariot brings something... well not positive, exactly, but something redemptive out of the 5OP. Like you choose to put yourself out for a greater cause, to go somewhere more important, or to better align yourself with what matters more to you. Leaving a job where you get treated like sentient garbage and subsequently being strapped for cash, leaving school and having your family suddenly look at you like you just got a big middle finger tattooed to your forehead, etc; these are just some 5 Of Pentacles experiences that you could CHOOSE for yourself because you know they are right but still be "put out" or otherwise rejected by the larger culture you're part of. And that still feels bad, man but at least if you decide for yourself there's some dignity in being left out in the cold.
Sometimes the old habits are habits in the first place because of how well they work. It's so easy to float through life unencumbered when you're fucked. Im great when i'm fucked. I am exactly who I want to be when I'm fucked.

Someone posted this on Facebook in a tarot group I’m part of, but it’s a closed group so I can’t link to the post. I think I’m going to try out this spread today.
When you're trying to get REAL and tell yourself youre ready for GRITTY and HONEST insight into someone, no matter how BRUTAL the answers may be... but then your cards are just like ... "everythings cool🙂"

Monocle Spread for the 8 of Cups
1. What the 8 of Cups is connected to: 4 of Swords. This tells me that the 8 of Cups is more about seeking peace and needing to find something to heal you. The 8OC is supposed to be looking for the 9th cup, and that 9th cup might look like a calm respite. This tells me the 8 of Cups might be more connected to finding that peacefulness inside yourself, and looking for what will put your mind at ease.
2. What the 8 of Cups is not connected to: 5 of Pentacles. I am very happy to see this here. To me the 8OC has been a tricky card, sometimes meaning abandonment and being turned away from (like on the 5 of pents) but other times it has more positive connotations about knowing you have outgrown something and are simply on a search for something better. This card in the NOT position is encouraging. It’s not about abandoning/being abandoned per se, the focus is more on the search itself if that makes sense. Perhaps its more of an inner search as represented by the cerebral nature of the sword suit as opposed to the more physical/tangible and realistic nature of the Pentacles suit.
3. Context/Situation: King of Swords. More reinforcement about the mental clarity angle I’m looking at the 8 of Cups through. It could be expressed through frank conversations with others. A discussion about your feelings is likely. I know the King of Swords is not supposed to be the talking about your emotions type, but when I’m using it for insight on a cups card someone is definitely going to be straight forward about their feelings. Not mushy or sentimental but refreshingly honest, which will likely be where the peaceful clarity of the 4 of Swords will stem from.
4. Impact/Outcome: The Fool. I like the combination of the 8 of Cups and the The Fool a lot. I think they complement one another; The Fool lightens up the journey of the 8OC and the 8OC adds some wisdom and purpose to what sometimes feels like the innocently random journey of The Fool. I think this search for the 9th Cup is blessed and if you are willing and open, it could take you to places you didn’t think you’d go to.
I made this post last year about my love life and that draw/interpretation wound up being right; I was the sword (air sign) and they were the lazy, stubborn, shitty shield (earth sign) that I couldn’t get past (because they were a dick, but that’s certainly not a trait exclusive to earth signs).
But this very similar draw was from a couple of months ago, not long after I met someone else who is, yep, a fire sign! Air and fire are supposedly friendlier elements than air and earth. I really did feel like a breeze just uselessly slapping against a big fat stupid rock when it came to that Earth Person, so I sure hope for a lot more momentum with my relationship with this Fire Person.
I also shuffled my personal significator to the bottom of the deck. I'm trying to work out the importance of that, but I think there is some because I ride or die for the Queen of Swords.
“Each day is another chance for death to win.” From Popular Mechanics, 1929.
I know some people don't like or are tired of the Celtic Cross but it's my old reliable favorite. Especially when I do one and I go OOF, RIGHT IN MY FEELS. Fyi this only about 2% of my wacky book collection.
In a love reading for a woman; A difficult position of being technically single but unavailable at the same time. Alluring but unattainable. Yearning, waiting for.
The 4 of Pentacles and 2 of Pentacles seem at odds. The 4 is stable and mean something established or keeping something the same, the 2 tends to mean juggling and adjusting. I also think my view of the 2 of Pentacles is maybe different than a lot of other readers, people seem to think it's representative of balancing things but when I say "adjustment" I usually experience it as a change from one to another. Like one thing comes to replace the other thing instead of simply balancing 2 (or more) separate things. Maybe the King of Pentacles will take care of things though. He means maintaining responsibility and he is literally in the middle bringing the stability of the 4 and the possible movement of the 2 together. He'll do the juggling necessary to keep order.
