john cardoza!jason dean (awfully short) character analysis

when i watched john perform as jd a few weeks ago the first thing i thought was how his portrayal of jason is one that is highly similar to the jason from the original 1989 movie. even my mother noted how his voice for jd is akin to christian slater's during the performance LOL. jason dean is cold and arrogant, typically considering no one but himself. those who stoop down to his level of social reject he manages to hold some respect for, but still, he sticks to himself. he tends to remain stoic throughout the entire story, showing not much emotion unless it leads to some sort of anger. in most cases, he has a severe lack of empathy for others. he shows zero remorse for anybody in the show, and even shows little empathy for veronica nearly the entire time. he sticks to the belief everyone will get what they deserve, including her. there is little to no lightheartedness seen in this version of jason. he's all seriousness. of course, with the typical wit and sarcasm, but that appears to be the extent of this jason's lightheartedness (aside from his flirting in the very beginning. i dont see any of his 'moves' on veronica as true flirting ever again past freeze your brain). as for his mannerisms, ESPECIALLY by the point we reach act 2, he's very twitchy, very restless, and the most lightheartedness you'll see from him from this point on is his heavy amounts of sarcasm littered within his speech. he mocks veronica a lot, both in her speech and in her mannerisms, and is overall just super disrespectful for her past olig. this man is Psychotic. he's extremely jittery, extremely short-tempered, extremely explosive. he yells, he growls, he is SO SARCASTIC!!! especially after mdgs. of course, this jd is also scarily manipulative. he knows just how to twist his words to get his way nearly every time, and his body language is off-putting enough for people to become intimidated from that alone. he seems to have very little awareness of personal space, too, sneaking up on people and getting very close, likely a known tactic of intimidation and making each person clearly uncomfortable. very touchy, too. he truly wants the world to be his and he has nooo limits. but this also means hes very touchy with Himself; he hugs himself a lot, touches his hair, fidgets... he is also very pronounced when he intends to be, but when angry or irritated begins slurring his words and growling while spewing every little thing that's on his mind and OH its so scary to listen to. i also took notice just how ELATED he was to have killed ram and kurt. his chest is heaving, and he's smiling Ear To Ear. he takes a few moments to soak in the adrenaline, and his smile only drops when he sees veronica. i believe this jd is obsessed with veronica, but doesn't love her; more so just a means to an end. but a very useful one, at that. john also portrays a Very Angry jason, as i've mentioned, and the way he portrayed his death is the only point in the show where he truly showed his vulnerability and hurt underneath the anger and resentment he holds for the world. also THE WAY HE TRIED TO FORCE VERONICA TO KISS HIM DURING THE FIGHT SCENE? ive yet to see a jd do that So Aggressively and so Desperately. Ouuugiggghhhhh. that gave me chills. the way he grabbed her and genuinely tried going for it. oh my god. john cardoza you portray a TERRIFYING jason dean, and i loved it. i have so much more i could say but all in all i truly cannot wait to go back and see him perform again because it was SUCH an amazing performance and left me with chills during so many scenes. i miss it so bad What a Rush!!! Applause!!!!!

i AM however considering posting the cardeanza analysis i did in the hour following seeing john cardoza perform. and my thoughts on the train home. cuz omg i wrote so much bruh

going to bed thinking about just how angry john!jd is. the way that hes so jittery is probably a result of all that pent up anger and anxiety and how Thaaat is also what leads to him missing a lot of social cues and getting all up in people's personal space and business and Ugh. Cardeanza heavy on the mind tonight folks i could go on for so long.
