tired eyes moved from the papers that she'd been staring at on the desk in front of her –– other members of the unit had long since left, leaving just the two women. the office was quiet, almost comfortingly so, but it didn't take away from the worry that was sitting in to the newest member of the team. there was just something that didn't add up –– and the more she stared at what was in front of her, the further from the truth she felt as though she was getting. it was a catch-twenty-two in the worst possible way. "you wanna get some food?" she asked, head finally lifting towards kate. "get out of here for a little bit? might do some good."

An anniversary present wasn't an easy thing to buy. It needed sentiment, it needed to be something they wouldn't have gotten for themselves. It had occurred to Charlie, Alex had eyed this beautiful musical box that had two hockey players running along middle as a quirky melody played. She hadn't said specifically, but he felt as if it reminded her of her family. Back when things were simpler. He really wanted to get it for her. Once the thought had formed, it was hard not to let it go.

As he walked into the antique store, he couldn't remember what part of the store he'd seen it in, but decided to roam the areas. When he couldn't find it, he approached what he assumed was the owner. It looked like she was talking to someone, so he he just lifted his hand. "Don't mind me. You guys finish. I'm just trying to find a box."

head turned towards the desk of his fellow agent, with a glint of mischief in his eyes. yes, it was coming to that time, the end of the day, where the special agent slipped away and the dinozzo truly reigned supreme. “so tell me, kate –” tony began, letting his foot on the floor spin his chair slightly, leaning back in his chair as he spoke, “– what sort of things does agent todd do for fun outside of this place? you a skier? mountain climber? lion tamer?”

there was a small sigh as orly stared down at the ornate plate in her hand, with two carefully placed cupcakes on top. she’d worked hard to pull the samples together for some brats sweet sixteen, only to be almost laughed out of the meeting. cupcakes aren’t in any more. it was like they’d told her that her entire business was a waste of time. and she couldn’t help but feel deflated about it. “do you want these? they’re not poison, i promise.” she offered to the person at the next table, figuring the least she could do is try and brighten someone else’s day.
