Trachycardium isocardia
#2771 - Hedecardium (Titanocardium) greyi
Described as Cardium greyi, by Hutton, in 1873. Unlike the last few species, no living examples in the genus. This one lasted from the Waitakian to Otaian (Late Oligocene to Early Miocene)
University of Otago Geology Museum, Dunedin, Aotearoa New Zealand.
#2942 - Acrosterigma cygnorum - Oblique Southern Cockle
AKA Western Heart Cockle, despite being found on most Australian coastlines, for at least the last 23 million years. The only member of its genus from southern shores - other species are found in our northern waters, including some found nowhere else.
Woodman Point, Perth, WA
#2941 - Vasticardium vertebratum - Reeve's Cockle
AKA Acrosterigma reeveanum, Cardium reeveanum, Cardium vertebratum and Regozara olivifer.
Endemic to Australia, but unlike the last few it's found NORTH from Perth and Sydney. Presumably it likes the warmer water.
Woodman Point, Perth, WA.
Vasticardium subrugosum, Vung Tau beach, Vung Tau, Vietnam, October 18, 2024.
