Chara: What’s up guys? I’m back. Kris: What the- you can’t be here. You’re dead. I literally saw you die. Chara: Death is a social construct.
@cardsdecked // frisk!
poets often say that falling feels like flying.
however, what they seem to have forgotten in all their flowery reflections is to mention how one’s heart seems to be beating in their throat, how one’s stomach is above you, soaring, falling, a rock plum- meting to the ground.
cold air and never-ending darkness rushing past, kris does not cry out in fear. instead, they are frozen, the thought oh god, i’m going to die causing vocal chords to become leaden, voice choked away.
a thought, insanity: oh, maybe i’ll end up with frisk.
a minute, an eternity, a second, eternity in a clock-tick: unforgiving ground rushes to meet them.
there is no pain. is this death? if i died in a fucking closet, i’m going to be pissed.
kris catches their breath, goes to move their limbs ( please, god, no broken bones ), and that is when they realize several things.
first: his clothing clinks when he moves. it is a heavi- ness on their chest and arms. they feel cold edges press into soft flesh, cushioned by what feels like leather. armour?
second: they do not see frisk. ( shit, shit, shit-- )
third: there is another form ( warm, alive ) tangled up with them, the extra weight trapping them. it is smaller than them -- much smaller. clearly, they are not susie. kris sits up, mindful of this other person ( great, a stranger ) and goes to see if they are hurt.
as they adjust to this new place and the strange lighting, as his hand touches the other person’s form, recognition causes kris’ breath to catch in his throat.
“ ...frisk? ” his voice is soft, awed. “ frisk?! you-- ” have a body. ( wow, totally not a weird thing to say. ) the words stick in kris’ throat, and, instead, they simply find themself pulling frisk in for a hug.
@rcllfcrinit asked: [Cry] (Kris, @cardsdecked, soft sibling hours)
[ cry ] for your muse to wipe mine’s tears away
Ah, the joys of being a clumsy and accident-prone child.
Frisk had simply been playing in the backyard while Kris watched them nearby, doing their own things.
Unfortunately, Frisk had decided that climbing one of the taller trees out here, was a good idea. After all, they weren’t heavy, so the possibility of anything snapping under them was slim.
What they didn’t take into account, was their tiny adolescent feet slipping off a notch and sending them entirely to the ground.
At first when they land, they’re too shocked to really do anything. But then adrenaline goes away and makes way for pain, and now the alligator tears began.
The poor thing had scraped up legs and arms and was now fully crying in their spot on the ground. They were crying so much they didn’t even notice Kris had come over to get them, until Kris’ hand was wiping away tears and their form was gently lifted off the ground.
Now Frisk had begun to hiccup and sniffle as they curled up in their sibling’s hold. Clinging to them with a shaky sob.
@cardsdecked wants a hug!
"...kid, I already told you I'm incorporeal..." She turns to look down at the human she'd found herself bound to- one who, so far at least, had managed to survive without raising a hand to any of the enemy monsters. Mostly due to the same kind of attitude they seemed to be showing right now.
"Look, even if I wanted a hug, I couldn't. Watch-" With that, she unceremoniously reaches a hand down from where she floats, sticking it right through the child's torso to no effect.
“See? I’m not really ‘here.’ No hugs to raise my ‘spirits.’“
