What if when Killcode goes back up stairs to the lab, with or without the regressed twins, it’s to find that Eclipse has been fully regressed, too, for about the same amount of rime as the twins? From being tortured unconscious only to wake up in a lab instead of a body, and only hadn’t started crying before KC ran off to tuck the twins in because he was still in shock?
KC would probably go up with the twins on a trip to get their new pacis and toys that just got delivered to the daycare (him and Moon having been stuck with the twins for the last day), only to get drawn off path hearing little whimpering and hiccups from the lab.
It’s only really him stepping inside that makes him realize his eldest is regressed as well, terrified and confused and has been like this for a whole day. Now look, Eclipse isn’t his favorite child. It’s probably Blood Moon with Harvest being the very, very, very close second, they probably switch who’s the favorite actually. But his eldest son is crying and stressed and immediately begins wailing when he comes into the lab. He can’t just leave Eclipse in there.
So he sets the machines to put him into a nano body, even if it’s temporary, and ends up with Eclipse hiding and crying in the tube after he’s done being transferred.
KC tries to soothe him like he did with the twins but Eclipse is scared of being abandoned yet again and tries to hide from him. KC feels horrible, he left his eldest to regress alone and scared up in the lab while he coddled his two youngest and he doesn’t know how to handle it besides ordering Eclipse to allow him to calm him down, which he can’t bring himself to do when Eclipse is this stressed.
KC has to let Moon take control and coax Eclipse out, which is a process in itself because Moon is not very fond of Eclipse but he can put that aside to help KC get his son calm. Moon gets called ‘Mama’ in this process and nearly has a heart attack, but it ends with Eclipse hiccuping but safely buried into KC/Moon’s arms.
The twins are confused at first why their father is transferring Eclipse to a body when they were told he was a lab. But once they see their brother so stressed and confused, it’s quite obvious that he regressed when he was transferred into the lab and both twins are overjoyed to have a little friend that isn’t each other.
Eclipse is even clingier that the twins, KC physically cannot put him down. While the twins are nearly two when they regress, Eclipse went fully into babyspace over the course of the last day and being abandoned yet again. He needs constant care that he’s been neglected of for an entire day.
So the trip to the daycare to retrieve their package adds another baby to the list of needing to be spoiled. Moon helps KC make Eclipse a bottle, and the twins giggle and run around the daycare while Sun and Lunar are out with Monty (because Moon told Monty to kidnap his brothers for the day so KC wouldn’t be interrupted).
KC also takes a paci from the excess in the storage closet and gives it to Eclipse. It’s tinier than the twins’ adult pacis and it’s a baby model, he needs to order another paci for his smallest son. But he figures it will do for now and Eclipse needs one being even smaller than the twins.
Moon sneaks an abandoned stuffie from the lost and found to Eclipse. Eclipse has named her Ray and he adores her. Eclipse also love a particular rattle toy from the lost and found that the twins give him. KC thinks his son clutching a stuffed cat with a rattle in his hand, falling asleep on him is adorable.
Sun, Lunar, and Monty, when they get back to the daycare, walk in and see KC and Moon’s parenting and turn right around and go back to Gator Golf to let them be.
Moon has an existential crisis being a caregiver when he wakes up later in his bed with the twins cuddled to each of his sides and Eclipse on top of him. He is now trapped again.
