Borlotto Lingua di Fuoco - Tongue of Fire Bean. Italian bush cranberry beans can be eaten young and green or as shelly beans. I ordered them from Seeds of Italy after reading a Mohegan succotash recipe from my friend Rachel Sayet’s great great uncle Harold Tantaquidgeon in her mom Melissa Tantaquidgeon’s 1994 book “The Lasting of the Mohegans”. The recipe calls for Dwarf Horticultural Beans, which are another type of cranberry bean that came to the US in the 1800s from Italy. Cranberry beans first originated in Colombia, South America. As descendent of Italian immigrants who grew up on Mohegan land, I thought I'd give these beauties a try. #borlottibeans #borlottolinguadifuoco #dwarfhorticultural #dwarffrenchbeans #cargamanto #cargamantobeans #phaseolusvulgaris #seedkeeping #succotash #mohegansuccotash (at Delaware County, Pennsylvania)
