All departing flights canceled at Brussels Airport due to strike

Brussels (The Times Groupe)- Staff are on strike at Brussels Airport on Monday, preventing flights from taking off.

Several unions in Belgium are calling on airport employees and security staff to strike for better working conditions and wages.

The airport, however, will remain open to incoming passengers and cargo flights.

In light of the strike, the airport administration asked passengers to change their travel plans and not come to the airport.

The strike also disrupted public transport in Brussels, including subways, trams, and buses.

In Belgium, employee wages increase according to inflation since it has a system of automatic salary indexation.

This system needs to be changed, according to employers.

While unions support automatic indexation, they demand a change in regulations that limit private sector wage growth.
