Being a light skinned Dominican-American can be confusing sometimes. Often times I get Racial Imposter syndrome, but after some reflection I tell myself that regardless of what I look like or what my racial makeup might be, there is no denying that my family is from the Dominican Republic. It is actually up to those who are white passing and have privilege to help bring into the light the issues of anti-blackness, colorism, and encourage our brothers and sisters of darker complexion to be proud of our Afro-Indigenous heritage from all Latin America.
