MEET CARIN RODEBJER, JUST BEFORE HER SS15 SHOW AT NEW YORK FASHION WEEK , SEPT. 5th

Carin Rodebjer As her runway show approaches, Le New Black had the chance to catch up with the most new yorker of all swedish designers: Carin Rodebjer.  RODEBJER SS15 is available on Le New Black for select retailers only. The brand is sold at the most selective stores worldwide: Assembly, Shopbop (NYC), Traffic, UK Styles (Russia), Sauce (Dubai) etc.

Rodebjer SS15 Carin grew up on the Swedish island of Gotland but her steps always led her to New York. 

Carin studied at the Fashion Institute of Technology, and after being spotted wearing her handmade designs on the streets of Manhattan, Carin Rodebjer started selling her fashion to friends and stores in New York and Stockholm. Since then RODEBJER has grown step by step, with one foot in the intense presence of the city and the other in the tranquility of her childhood island.

You are participating at New York Fashion Week for several seasons, can you tell us why did you choose this one instead of another one? Why is New York an important city for your development?

New York has always been a part of the brand since this is where the brand was born. Since I am once again  based in New York, it comes natural to show in my hometown, that is now Rodebjer's creative home. New York, and the Swedish island Gotland where I grew up, are both very essential for what Rodebjer is.

How did the idea of collaboration with the jewelery designer Pamela Love emerge?

I have always liked her aesthetics. She has a really clear idea of who she is designing for and she makes amazing jewelry. On top of that she is a very inspiring and cool person as well!

Fashion and Music are always closely linked, can you tell and explain the choices you've made for your runway playlist?

We have worked with the amazing Swedish artist Mariam the Believer to curate the music for the show. She is a truly inspiring and deeply talented artist. She is openminded and has a wide spectra of music in her head and archives. She is very knowledgeable and at the same time she has a sense of humor so it is so easy to find a good balance between fun and brilliance with her. She can handle the full spectra I want to communicate. The mix will be intense, energetic and playful.
