You know what's awesome about this picture? Mom had a good "shower day". It will never be easy, raising my mom. The ache will never end of losing the strong woman she was mentally. But I can choose to be grateful. I'm thankful that today.... She was peaceful and not stressed. She was happy and willing to be washed up. She remembered who I was(briefly)and thanked me repeatedly. Losing her mind, thru dementia, has been one of the most difficult things to watch... but seeing the beauty-even in this season of her life-that she's becoming? That's a priceless gift. She used to sit and listen to my problems for hours. She used to care for me in every way. The roles are reversed now. I might cry over what I've lost....but make no mistake, she's still one of the best teachers I know....and I'm learning something new everyday. #caringformom #dealingwithdementia #honoringher #lovinghertilltheend
