mikazuki finds refuge in the library, free from the rumble of the city (which he is far too old to appreciate). eyes wander through the wonderfully decorated building -- simple, homely, and every shelf stocked top to bottom with worn, well read books. he stops in front of the fiction section and gently picks out a random book, flipping through the pages, scanning the words and prose written by someone who he, of course, doesn’t recognize. he has personally never read a book, but he has memories of personal libraries he was brought into. the collection wasn’t as vast back then, the types of books not as varied.
a gentle laugh escapes his lips at a particularly funny line in the middle of the book and his lips remain curled as he carries the book with him to a nearby table. he pulls the chair back without a sound and sits down politely as a force of habit, a trait he can’t even explain why he does automatically. mikazuki opens the book and starts reading.
he flips through the pages slowly, but stops when he notices that his table wasn’t empty, rather there is someone else also sitting there, quietly reading herself. she seems interested her book and mikazuki quietly reads the title and the little blurb on the back -- a... romance novel?
“ah... pardon me,” he says quietly, setting down his book quietly on the table. he smiles pleasantly at the girl in front of him. he notices her strange ears and clothing, but he doesn’t comment on it. his interest lay solely on her book and her fascination with it. he looks into her eyes as he speaks.
“the book you’re reading seems very interesting -- how is it? are you a fan of romance?”
