This series of works on paper combine elements of cartoonish realism combined with abstract expressionist markings. In high saturated color our increasingly polarized world is reflected in narratives of heroines and bad hombres, and a suggestion to the dangers that lurk in the darker corners of society and our minds.

Unpaid Extra, Carlson Hatton
This 12" x 15" paper on panel work is mounted on a stained hardwood frame. This work falls into an ongoing series of portraits that attempt to slow down and zoom in on reoccurring figures that populate the dizzying complexity offered in my larger scale works. Rather than fading in and out of a multi layered background these figures create a fragmentation that emanates from inward out.
