N64 Gamer #13, March '99 - Preview of 'Carmageddon 64'.
been a while since the last one, I guess I took a accidental break after B ended, but lets start C with
California Speed, another 64 race game, this one doesnt have short cuts but does have alternative paths! also despite being all in california they get pretty creative with most of the stages. It is pretty fun to play! the only things I didnt like were... to unlock stuff you have to play through "weeks" where you have to play the same set of 5-6 stages a bunch of times in a row, and to unlock all the cars you need to do each of those like... 4 times at least. Also I was a little dissapointed a lot of the unlockable stages are just normal race tracks as opposed to the single-lap ones based on locations that you get from the start!
I think people like the original carmageddon? I never plaied it, but Carmageddon 64 port is a huge mess, it is hard to control, even harder to understand, they barelly explain anything, even on training mode, you somehow have 3 possible ways to win a stage and you can do any of them ??? I dont know I gave up after going though the training and 2 stages honestly...
I am bundling Castlevania 64 and Castlevania Legacy of Darkness together because they are basically the same thing, I mean they are different games, one is a sequel (sidequel?) of the other, but they reuse most of the controls, assets etc, you can literally see the HUD is identical lol
I actually dont think they are so bad! I could see myself finishing them... maybe... the truth is I died in the first one and it took me back so far I kind of gave up for the day... I might pick it up again sometime, but using savestates ia a bit of a pain where I am playing and they dont really give you too many save points after a certain points because they expect you to go back and forward and save on the save rooms you find, like a normal castlevania, except you dont even have a map on this one (at least to the point I was at), and it is 3D, so good luck lol

Schon seltsam: Da ist man den ganzen Tag unterwegs, will sich anschließend zu Hause einfach nur etwas berieseln lassen und egal welches elektronische Gerät man anschaltet, überall kommt WERBUNG!
