"carmen!" leaky smiled, giving her a sort of goofy wave as he spotted her across the room. a shirley temple in hand - he enjoyed the drink un-ironically - he made his way over to her. "weird to think that the year is like...over now." he comments, head gesturing to the crowded room as seniors and graduates were celebrated. which if things continued on right, would be him next year. maybe, hopefully. it felt so out of reach as he stood there in that moment. "you got any summer plans?"

with a complimentary plastic cup of cheap wine in her hand, ida stops to ponder a piece, her head titled to the side. the colors blend together and she can't figure out if that was the intention or if she's just stared at it for too long that her vision is blurring. slowly she takes a sip and cocks her head to the other side as if that could change her viewpoint. once she had a professor say that to really understand a work of art you had to see it from all angles - sideways, upside down, up close, far away - she had rolled her eyes but clearly had taken that advice to heart. "i feel like when i squint my eyes i almost see like...a farm scene?" ida says absentmindedly to the body that appears next to her, doing just that. a quick glance over and she gives carmen a wide smile. "or maybe i'm just projecting. you got any thoughts? am i way off the mark?"

for the most part, it had been a lonely summer. maybe the loneliest yet. the few people they had contacted well...alethea hadn't had much to say. and the couple weeks was spent with heni in the hamptons and promptly avoiding anything related to real life it felt. so it felt odd being back on campus, odd without greer around (knowing this time she won't see her), unfamiliar faces as others moved in. arms wrapped around herself she made her way through the crowd until she got the eye of the familiar carmen, one of the few that alethea felt understood her plight to a degree. "carmen! hey!" they called out, a half jog over to her as they smiled. "glad to see you back, did you have a good summer?"
