"DĂRUIEȘTE VIAȚĂ" ("GIVE LIFE") | 42x56cm, mixed media | Daruieste Viata
Contemporary work of art by IDG FORMA, part of the collective of artists for the Romanian Pavilion (Pavilionul României la Bienala de Design de la Londra) at the London Design Biennale 2025 through Asociatia Art Mirror's art installation. The subject and the theme of this work was the original apply and proposal of the Romanian artist IDG FORMA specifically for the 2025 Spring Open Call.
Earlier this spring, Asociatia Art Mirror (Cluj-Napoca) launched an open call for visual artists, illustrators, and graphic designers. The initiative centered around an ambitious installation entitled "Inner Reflections, Outer Worlds"— a project envisioning sustainable dialogue between natural systems and emerging technologies. Artists over the age of 19 were invited to create works inspired by influential contemporary Romanian figures from the fields of culture, sport, activism, and philanthropy.
ARTIST STATEMENT
In the words of American curator of contemporary art Helen Molesworth, “Art is a form of knowledge. It’s a practice of investigation (science, journalism, observation) married to the human capacity for and drive toward play.” In this spirit, the painting DĂRUIEȘTE VIAȚĂ (GIVE LIFE) stands as both a tribute and a testament to the extraordinary efforts of Oana Gheorghiu and Carmen Uscatu—two visionary, determined, and indomitable women.
Together with over 350,000 individuals and countless organizations, they are spearheading the creation of Romania’s first pediatric hospital campus—an unprecedented civic initiative in the country’s history. Their unwavering pursuit of excellence, uncompromising quality standards, and systemic reform has set a new benchmark within the public healthcare sector, demonstrating the transformative potential of collective will and civic engagement in the 21st century.
