I lived there 4 years while in school and while the T isn’t great it’s definitely usable. I never had a car there and was fine. It’s definitely a pretty segregated city, and imo seems unaware of it. Rent is expensive tho!

Ppl hate the T but I honestly don't think it's worse than the DC Metro. It's certainly not better, but it's not any more impossible to get anywhere here than it is in DC or Minneapolis-St Paul in my opinion. Take that for what it's worth
As a point of comparison, where I live, the buses stop running at 5 PM. Pretty much anything would be an improvement to me.

Having a car when you live in the city isn't worth it unless you have kids imo. But again it's easy to bike here. The river is pretty. Good public option health insurance if you're broke/unemployed. Good software and biotech jobs abound here as well if you're in one of those fields
thank you, that’s really useful information.

Public transit is a nightmare, beware
public transit might as well be nonexistent where I am, so there’s that.

I like it here. Steep east coast rent ofc, but it's a nice town. Bikeable, lots of sushi joints. The biggest downside is the traffic, there are so many colleges here that driving anywhere during the schoolyear is completely unendurable
No plans on driving, thank you for your insight.
