Millie Picklesnout
On a sunny day at the Wild Paws Animal Hospital, Jess and Lily were filling up water for the new pond. The two girls couldn’t wait to see all the goslings, ducklings, frogs, newts, and grasshoppers living in the pond. In the middle of their job, Goldie showed up. That meant that it was time to go back to Friendship Forest.
The moment they arrived there, Goldie explained that they'd been invited to the Friendship Forest Funfair on Sapphire Island. The Picklesnout Family, who operate the carnival heard so much about their rescue missions and decided to invite them as their guest of honor.
They walked to the pier where The Paddlebrook Family was waiting for them. Captain Paddlebrook set up the gangplank and the trio hopped onto the boat.
Moments later, they arrived at Friendship Forest Pier where The Picklesnout Family was waiting for them. The Picklesnouts consisted of Mr. Picklesnout, owner and park manager of The Friendship Forest Poier, and his two kids Benji and Millie. Millie was extremely ecstatic to meet them. Jess and Lily looked around and saw that all of their friends were there. The Wollyhops were at a balloon dart toss, a bunch of bunnies and frogs were hopping in the bouncy castle, Emily was taking photos of their moves(Because her prickly back would destroy the inflatable castle), Mr. Cleverfeather was getting out of the bumper car game just to get to his popcorn machine(Where it can make twelve flavors of popcorn, and The Twinkletails were riding the train ride.
Even though the rides were GREAT, Millie HAD to show them her favorite ride, ‘Water Whirl’. It was like a merry-go-round, only it was in wonder. Jess and Lily took off their socks and shoes and joined Goldie, Millie, and Benji for the ride while Mr.Picklesnout operated. While they were playing along and enjoying the water, Millie revealed the secret location of the third sapphire, the pink shell on her seahorse. They were amazed by how well-hidden it was.
All of the sudden, an old and dirty tugboat came in with Grizelda and her imp minions onboard. Urchin, Barnacle, Seaweed, and Shrimp were all dressed like pirates. Barnacle jumped onto Millie’s seahorse and scared the waves out of her. Millie let go of the Pink Shell and Barnacle grabbed hold of it. It wasn’t a pretty sight for any of the animals.
The waves suddenly went out of control and Barnacle joined her fellow pirate imps and witch and rode off with the stolen seahorse. The waves were out of control. No one in the water was safe. Mr. Picklesnout grabbed the patrons one by one to safety. Sadly, Benji was still on the seahorse. He was trapped like a mouse in a cage. Determined to save her big brother, Millie grabbed hold of the life preservers and pulled Benji in. Benji was grateful that his little sister saved his life. Although Mr. Picklesnout was proud of how Millie remembered her safety training, he feared that other patrons would get hurt, so he informed the patrons that the Water Whirl is out of order until further notice.
While Jess and Lily placed on their socks and shoes Admiral Greatwing The Albatross came in. He explained to them that he saw the whole thing through his telescope and believes that they’re heading to one of the islands. Jess and Lily had a feeling that Grizelda might be there.
They rode to the island on Admiral Greetings tugboat. When they reached the island, Admiral Tugboat gave the girls their jumpers, in case they got cold.
They searched for the imps around the island until they saw a puffin family trapped on a rock in the middle of rampaging water. One by one, Jess and Lily rescued the poor innocent puffins. They explained that they were The Brightbeaks and they were on holiday camping when the waters got out of control. To reward them for their bravery, The Brightbeaks gave them their special marshmallows called, ‘Puffin Balls’ as a snack. Goldie told the puffins to wait by the tents until the rampaging waters stopped.
Afterwards, Millie saw a pile of crab apples beside her. Jess remembered that imps love the taste of crab apples. They followed the trail to a nearby cave, and the stolen seahorse was there. There was little time to lose. They crawled deep within the cave when they heard the Pirate Imps singing like actual pirates.
They followed the singing to an area where it looked a lot like House of Mirrors. This made the Imps very confused. The whole thing gave Jess an idea. She tossed the puffin balls and the Imps mistook them for jewels. This gave Millie the idea for them to pose as Glitter Monsters. It worked, the IMPS got so scared that they fled, leaving behind the sapphire.
The girls, Millie, and Goldie rode off on the stolen seahorse to Friendship Forest Pier. The moment they returned the sapphire, the waves calmed down. Everyone cheered triumphantly. Benji suggested that Millie should hide the sapphire in the House of Mirrors, that way it can confuse anyone trying to steal it. Everyone thought it was a great idea.
After Millie placed the sapphire hidden in the house of mirrors, everyone went back to having fun. The girls, Goldie and Millie rode bumper cars, bounced in the bouncy castle, rode the helter skelter, and rode the Water Whirl again.
Back in Brightley, they could see Mrs. Hart finishing up filling the lake.
Now they only have ONE more sapphire to protect.
The end.
:Carnival Operator Convicted,” Kingston Whig-Standard. June 11, 1942. Page 11. ---- BRANTFORD, June 11— (CD) - Max Goldberg, Montreal, pleaded guilty before Magistrate R. J. Gillen, yesterday, to a charge of “inducing various persons to place their money on a wheel of fortune” operated during a carnival show in Brantford Township recently.
Sentence will be passed on Friday. Bail of $500 was allowed. The wheel, $21 in cash, and eight blankets were confiscated.
Ward Kennedy and W. Bibby, officers of the Provincial Police anti-gambling squad, told the court the wheel could be slowed or allowed to run fast at the whim of the operator. A. H. Boddy, K.C., defense counsel, stated in a plea for a light fine that there were several wheels in existence but they were associated with some charitable organization. In the case the carnival was the usual kind but not connected with any organization raising money. Acting Crown Attorney E. R. Read, K.C., stated it was a straight gambling device.
Kennedy said he heard defendant say to one client “will you take the $5 in cash or a blanket?”
The officer placed dimes on certain numbers and won both times getting 40 cents. This was thought to be a “come on."
