This came to me randomly and I actually managed to write it all down before my brain does that nasty BS it likes to do. The best way to describe it is that when I come up with something I think is awesome the moment I try to write it down my brain sometimes starts playing keep-away with it until it shatters and scatters all over the floor in a confusing, unfixable mess. ( ʘ‿ʘ)
I guess it didn’t do that this time because it likes pain and suffering of others. :)
Anyway, this is a short story, 230 words long if I counted correctly (so I guess technically it’s closer to being a double drabble— and no, I don’t have anything that does that automatically as far as I know, lol. I’m actually a bit tempted to call it something like “fiffle” or "fifrootle" since it has the digital root of 5, lol).

Timeline: Downfall Era
Pain exploded from his back and gut. He coughed and slid off something— the cause of his pain. He did not register what it was. He did not care what it was. With excruciating effort he turned over, hovered his hand over his gaping wound, and— nothing. Nothing. Nothing! He was utterly drained. Panicked, rasping utterances crawled from his throat as he clumsily thrust a hand into his bag and shakily took out a bottled potion. He raised his other hand to open it. He just could not seem to get his hand on the lid. He hoped she had escaped by now. He felt so tired, so cold, though his heart beat so fast. Where was he again? What was in front of his eyes? What happened to the bottle? He had gasped so much in so little time. Or did he? He was not sure anymore.
His hands dropped, his vision faded, and the last sound he heard was the bellowing laughs of a beast.
Someone nearby raged and wailed. He thrashed for control but none was gained. He saw one impaled, he saw one fall, he saw one lie deathly still in a pool of blood. At this sight, that last sight, he ceased. What point was control now? It was too late.
His husband was dead.
His husband was dead and the wretched beast laughed.
Sometimes I can’t believe that I still haven’t decided on what Zuna!Carock’s favorite food is… And then I remember that I usually can’t decide what MY favorite food is! lol
Either way, I guess I oughta look up dishes suited for a hyper-carnivore and figure out what Carock would like best. XD
I also oughta think more in-depth about what Carock and Ganondorf talk about and do together.
A couple of things I’d already thought of is talking about magic and playing card games.
One card game I keep thinking of is one where you’re expected to cheat like crazy but you lose the game if you’re caught. The non-cheaty stuff has ended being like crazy eights so far.
Anyway, the first time Carock beat Ganondorf at it was when the latter was caught cheating…
And by “caught cheating” I mean Carock shouted, “Hey!”, stuck his hand in Ganondorf’s sleeve while he was putting down a card, pulled a “fuck your pattern, I do what I want” card out of HIS OWN sleeve, and then pulled his hand out of Gan’s sleeve while still holding the card, and accused Ganondorf of being the one hiding cards in his sleeves (and in the one game Ganondorf decided not to cheat in on top of it!).
And in an almost complete smutfic I had them talk about what they had been doing and what had been going on while Ganondorf was away at a diplomatic meeting in Hyrule after they had “ASDFGHJKL; I MISSED YOU, MY DARLING” sex (I remember that I had managed to write Carock telling Ganondorf that he had been doing horticultural stuff and Ganondorf telling Carock that the meetings went better than usual and no one threw any chairs this time).
Ganondorf headcanons LEEVER COFFEE Carock probably takes his black and Ganondorf's like how can you drink it like that and Carock's like you consume enough cream and sugar for the both of us actually Carock totally takes it black he's that kind of guy he's a weirdo who doesn't like sugar and bread
Written before the time Carock was a carnivore, lol.
Not so weird for him to dislike that stuff now, especially if I decide that Karstzuna/native Doldarans can’t taste sugar.
Scrapped Third Chapter of “The Children’s Trident”
I’m redoing this, but I may as well post what I HAD done. I think it was pretty much complete but forever stuck in editing or whatever (which it still needed a bit more of, there is at least one part that I hadn’t finished editing, lol).
Here it is:
The Children's Trident
Chapter 3
Gulbara had not exaggerated when she said the tunnel had been enchanted by a 'really fast' fast-travel spell. Everything in the tunnel seemed to fly by before anyone could register it all as anything more than a variety of blurs.
Ganondorf exited the long tunnel first, followed by Gulbara, Matsel, Aveil, and the others. There was a large, fairly uniform shadow between them and the hot, dry sun-bathed land further ahead. It stretched to their left and right for miles and was becoming thinner by the second. The sunlight was hitting the ground so harshly that it seemed to glow and made them squint. They surveyed their shining surroundings as they shrugged off and bagged their cloaks. Tall golden grass grew everywhere. There were shrubs all over as well as a few tall, slanted trees scattered about.
Aveil quickly and easily spotted their quarry zig-zagging around the foliage in the distance and pointed at them, "There they are! That way!"
The others looked where she was pointing at the Tözlams, standing out like sore thumb in their shadowy garb amongst their pale surroundings and the daylight. With a beckoning wave of his hand, Ganondorf continued the pursuit first and his company immediately followed after him. Miles of exotic grasslands gradually gave way to the familiarity of barren sands as the sun creeped ahead of them.
The Tözlams suddenly disappeared, as if they had fallen into the earth. Ganondorf and the others kept after them (avoiding the sandier patches of dirt, just in case) and soon reached the place of their disappearance: the edge of a huge basin of sand. After taking a quick drink from their flasks they too descended into the basin after the Tözlams, whom had stopped to rest by a large rock, apparently not noticing they were still being pursued.
Carock took out the map Shadrock had given him, looked at it, and then around him. He smiled and muttered, "Ah," right before he put the map away and began walking again, It's just past these next few— then stopped, —mesas... and slowly backed away. Thankfully, he had not been seen. What the hell are Tözlams doing here?! Carock wondered out of frustration, especially since he did heed Shadrock's warning... But these guys seemed to appear out of nowhere and were just chilling out on the other side of the mesa. Or maybe I just wasn't paying enough attention... he sheepishly considered. Being sleepy does not exactly facilitate alertness, after all.
Regardless of how or why, he had found a group of at least twenty of them. Why did I ever stop wearing black? If I had still and covered my stripes and hair then maybe I could have passed as a travelling Zyovnan Kelsïdetsyefor! Carock fussed, regretting his adamant disassociation with most things Doldaran. Or maybe that would have been too risky... Who fucking knows. Carock peeked around the corner again and saw a few unusual facial features sticking out from some of the hoods. No masks on them... Must be new... Carock snuck back behind the rock. They resemble Veredo but... Carock thought about what he could see for a moment. Too short, not green enough, and...
"Look! See?" yelled a female voice. Too female. he concluded, they are definitely not Veredo... Carock assumed that the female voice came from one of the 'Veredo-like' women as it had a thickly foreign quality to it. To him the accent itself sounded like it was related to a Veredo's just enough for him to no longer be open to it just being his imagination. He overheard a few other Tözlams swear at some predicament unknown to him. "We warned you that targeting one his granddaughters was suicide!" the same female voice scolded. "The great Ganondorf will not stop! You'd be better off attacking cuccos than a member of his family!" The fuck's a cucco...? Carock wondered.
"'The great Ganondorf'—" a male, but similarly accented voice, mocked, "you no longer follow him and yet you still—"
"Shut up, you good-for-nothing!" one of the foreign women shouted. Carock overheard the sharp sound of skin slapping against skin.
"Aaaaoooowww~!" the man yelped.
"If you hadn't been such a screw-up—!"
"Stop it! Stop all this nonsense!" a Doldaran Tözlam shouted, "Some of us are going to have to fight them! Now group up—!" Carock did not listen to whatever else the Tözlam had to say, 'Some of us'... Fuck! I need to get away from this mesa before they come around it! Tözlams tend to split into two groups and go around both sides of any rock, mesa, pillar, or other such thing whenever possible to keep anyone that might happen to be hiding behind them from sneaking around the obstacle and getting away unnoticed.
Unfortunately, Carock was on the west side of the mesa, the wrong side to duck in any burrows it might have. Burrow entrances in this area never faced west and he did not see any northern or southern ones so hiding in a burrow was not an option. Furthermore, most Tözlams could sense when most magics, like levitation, were being used nearby and Carock was a terrible climber so hiding on top of the mesa was not a viable option either. One of the few spells Carock could cast without notice was completely useless in his position because there was no shadow for him to slink into.
However, before Carock could even move, the Tözlams who were not chosen to fight ran off to the south instead of the west, not even glancing at his side of the mesa. With a sigh of relief, Carock hoped that the remaining Tözlams would be taken care of— and quickly.
"Capture one alive! We need information!" Ganondorf commanded. Sisel and Saitel pointed the business ends of their glaives at the oncoming Tözlams and Sahar drew her sabres. Matsel readied her bardiche as Aveil joined her father and aunt, whom had both begun levitating, in the charging of spells. Gulbara seemed to be charging a particularly large one.
"I hope the one in the center suits us." She quipped as she unleashed her spell.
Ganondorf nodded. At first, Gulbara's spell seemed to do nothing— until the Tözlams all tripped over their own shadows. The center one's shadow clung to him as the others muttered and shouted vulgarities over their confusing predicament while clumsily battling their own shadows in a panic. Ganondorf trapped the one Gulbara had pinned down in a crystal and yanked him away from his companions. The other Gerudo joined in the battle and Gulbara undid the enchantment on the trapped Tözlam's shadow, returning it to normal and strengthening the other shadows' enchantment.
As they fought, an all too familiar roaring was heard in the distance. Although it was still faint, the Gerudo hoped that the battle would end soon and the remaining Tözlams exuded a sense of desperation. One finally tried to dash into a cave but his shadow tripped him and a blast of Aveil's fire finished him off. The others were barely managing to dodge their opponents, concentrating mostly on dodging Matsel since her blows overpowered any physical attempts to block or deflect. One had tried to block; his shield and arm shattered. One had tried to deflect; his own weapon broke his skin before Matsel's bardiche did. The wizards, though amateurish, had the best luck, only being knocked to the ground with their shield expiring in their place; it hardly mattered, however, if they did not roll and dash away in time.
The storm was visibly close when the last Tözlam fell. "It's bearing down on us fast!" Sahar shouted, "We better find shelter!" she pointed to the north, "There's a cave right there!"
"Go!" Ganondorf exclaimed. He did not have to tell them twice.
Meanwhile, Carock stared wide-eyed at the storm rushing toward him. Time to go! he decided. He broke out into a mad dash before he began to hover and flew as quickly as he could toward his destination. He was not fast enough to outrun the storm, however, but at least the worst of it would not overtake him.
"I suppose this would be nature's way of tellin' us to park our butts, huh." Sisel said.
Ganondorf nodded. "Make sure this place is secure before we do any 'parking'." he gestured toward the large doorway-like holes in the north end of the cave and said, "Split into two groups and take a quick look, but don't get lost and if you find anyone, don't kill them if you can avoid it. They might be helpful." He took two large balls of string out of his bag and handed them to the others. "Use these to mark your path." They nodded and he continued, "I will check this room out and make sure you don't have any nasty surprises waiting for you when you return. Now go." They nodded and did as they were told. After they left, Ganondorf yawned, stretched, and rubbed his face. This fatigue better not make me miss anything important... he groused and let his hands fall to his sides. As he walked around the room, he looked behind rocks, columns, and stalagmites, looked above him at the ceiling, and overall found nothing of interest except for the fact that much of the stone looked like it had been carved into furniture. By amateurs... he criticized. He returned to the center of the room where he had left the captured Tözlam...
And immediately regretted not making him fall unconscious in the crystal.
His motionless body had slumped over and was a bit twisted. Foam with a green tint dripped from his gaping mouth. The cause of the tint flowed from where he had bit his own tongue during what Ganondorf assumed to have been a seizure.
"That blasted—!" Ganondorf cursed under breath as he kicked the crystal. He had seen the others run south, at least, but if they had turned somewhere and the storm covered their tracks...
Ganondorf heard footsteps behind him... Scrambling toward him down the tunnel leading into the cave. He unsheathed his knife as he swung around to face the person approaching him. A slender figure clad in a vermilion robe and cucullate cloth stumbled into the cavernous room and stopped a few feet in with a coughing and gasping breath that soon calmed to a gentle panting. Ganondorf lowered his knife a bit and stared, probably not an enemy... Ganondorf thought.
This person, while flat-chested, had somewhat rounded hips and narrow shoulders and looked like some kind of Zuna. Since all the Zuna women he has seen were quite petite in the bosom department, Ganondorf could hardly help but assume she was female. Ganondorf admired her slender hand resting on her deeply rising and falling chest. They look so delicate... he thought of her fingers. He watched her pull the cloth down from her mouth and toss her head back as though breaching the surface of a lake and with such force her hood fell back, revealing her face and apparently very long hair.
Ganondorf's jaw dropped and he blushed furiously. His nostrils flared and he stared completely wide-eyed at the person across from him as his pupils threatened to engulf his irises. Please don't be an enemy... He lowered his knife completely, holding it as if it were merely a twig. He took a deep breath to steady his pounding heart... It was unsuccessful.
Her nose was a small pair of slits. Like her mouth, they were set down low on her face, which Ganondorf found both strange and strangely appealing. She had green stripes that ran from her eyes down past her jaws and were gorgeously virid, like long patches of grass peeking out of the snow. Her lips were just has vivid and reminded him of the soft, plump foliage that leaved in Hyrule every spring. Her long, straight hair was black with a glossy green shine. Her sharp widow's peak, diminutive cheekbones, and narrow chin gave her face a delicate, heart-like shape. Her thick, triangular eyebrows beautifully crowned her still shut eyes and the flush of her cheeks were like freshly poured absinthe with the rest of her skin being like the louche of its finished preparation. In fact, Ganondorf could swear that merely glancing at this woman has made him feel like he had recently been in the company of the Green Fairy.
"Väqel zamazävätar!"
Ganondorf raised his eyebrows, he was not expecting a voice like that to come from a woman... It was much lower in pitch and thicker in timbre than such a slender figure, male or female, would suggest... He mentally shrugged and realized that perhaps this person being male makes more sense anyway... In fact, he should have realized when he saw the man's very Karstzunan face.
Karstzunas, those androgynous steeple people! Ganondorf could not tell a clothed male from a clothed female to save his life until they spoke... Which they had seemed to find amusing.
The man sighed and his slender hand trailed down his chest a little. After a moment he flinched, gasped, and threw his arms up defensively all at once. His eyes snapped open almost immediately afterward and locked on to Ganondorf. They stared at each other for a moment before the man tentatively asked, "Who— Who are you?"
This will be interesting... Ganondorf thought as he composed himself, Finally, an ordeal with potential for a bright side. and answered, "I am Ganondorf."
Carock stumbled into the cave coughing and wheezing. There was a bit of a salty taste in his mouth and a scratching in his throat. The latter soon ceased. Ugh! Sand! Sand sand salty salty fucking sand! At least I didn't get any in my eyes... He thought. After a moment of panting he pulled down the cloth that (inefficiently, apparently) covered his mouth and threw his head back, uncovering it.
He took a few deep breaths until he stopped feeling so winded. "Fucking sandstorm!" he complained to no one in particular. He huffed, began breathing through his nose again, and inhaled a strong and completely alien scent: a musky scent of amber, ebony, cloves, and leather. That's not Tarock! Carock flinched and opened his eyes wide.
There, halfway across the room, was a complete stranger. A blushing, gaping, knife-wielding stranger... Whom thankfully seemed to have little interest in actually using the knife at this point.
Carock stared at him. He thought he was a Veredo at first but quickly realized that this man was too red-cheeked... Too foreign in both color and clothing. Most people in Barida Bay are familiar with the Zunusyerkirian tongue, so he chose to speak in that.
The man had wild, fiery red hair and dark skin: a dark brownish-greyish green color like the seaweed his Vavá would buy when they visited the great seaport Galazada in Yonia's coastal nome. It was a striking color combination that Carock greatly appreciated. The man had piercing golden eyes with a verdant ring on their outer edge. His eyes were so bright and pale in comparison to his skin that they seemed to glow, which they might very well have been due to how visible they were despite his large brows shrouding them in darkness. The man's eyes were further framed by very pronounced cheekbones. Those have to be the most perfectly sculpted zygomata I've ever seen...! Carock thought as a desperate desire for physical contact invaded his fingertips. He also noticed that the man was very tall, very broad-shouldered, and very muscular. His long, shapely legs contributed to his height quite a bit more than his torso did and were clothed so tightly they might as well have been bare. Carock suddenly found himself short of breath again and could not help but find himself somewhat mesmerized.
The man was technically covered neck to toe, but like the cloth on his legs his garb was very— provocative. Draping off his wide shoulders was a long red cape, clipped on with a large, chest-piece made of azure metal bejewelled with five large topaz gems. Upon his head rested a frontlet made of a topaz set in the same sort of metal. A thin, black cloth clung to his arms and neck. The parts covering his arms were decorated with dark teal oblong beads and round yellow beads in a teal-yellow-teal pattern, as was the border of the cloth covering his neck. His shins, forearms, belt buckle, and chest were all covered or draped with off-white cloth decorated with red and blue designs. His boots went up to his knees and some sort of brown leather armor covered the remainder of his legs... Except for his thighs, which were covered only by the aforementioned thin, black, presumably stretchy, thin cloth... The man's torso was covered with an amaranthine, chiton-like tunic that narrowed considerably at the man's hips like a loincloth, to the point that it was only wide enough to cover his groin and buttocks... And called attention to his thighs... His thick, muscular, gloriously tight thighs...
Carock suddenly became quite hot under the collar and his heart throbbed harder than ever. "Who— Who are you?" he stuttered. And where the fuck is Tarock? he worried.
The man sheathed his knife, cleared his throat, and straightened his posture as he placed his hands on his hips. Ganondorf had closed his mouth and stretched his lips straight across his face, raising only the corners of his mouth into a sly smile.
"I am Ganondorf." his strong voice rang deeply. Carock stiffened, took a long, deep breath, and quivered as though Ganondorf's voice were reverberating inside him. Great fucking Morgorga! "And you are...?" His tone was smooth and rich. Carock thought if the taste and smell of a really damn good cup of coffee had a sound, this would be it. Hearing it made Carock feel a warm tingling spread across his face as a virid blush sprouted and grew just above his nose.
"Carock."
"Carock..." Ganondorf muttered softly. The right corner of his mouth twitched up further and he glanced down at the limey cave floor as his face reddened even more. Carock's lips curved into a sharp, caron-shaped smile and his eyes squinted gently into semi-circles. He raised his fingers to his lips and barely refrained from giggling at both his own nervousness and the sight of this big, previously intimidating man suddenly fidgeting bashfully and trying so hard to hide it.
Then, grinning a bit, Ganondorf said, "what brings— what is—" then he faked a cough, cleared his throat, and thought, I can't ask him that, it sounds like a ridiculous pick-up line! "I—" Ganondorf trailed off, Whatever! I'm asking him. It's better than stuttering and mumbling like some blasted fool! "What brings you to an isolated place like this?" he finally asked, choosing a string of words that he hoped sounded as little as a lame pick-up line as possible.
Carock's smile faded as he lowered his hand and said, "I could ask the same of you."
"My company and I are chasing a group of traitors and attempted kidnappers."
"Your company?"
"Yes, they are currently searching the cave to make sure it is safe."
"I see..." Safe... I hope Tarock and Shadrock are safe. "They won't have to look long, this is an abandoned residence— an old burrow— so there ain't that much to it as far as caves go." Seriously, Tarock, where the fuck are you?!
Well, that certainly explains all this conveniently placed and shaped stone... Ganondorf thought. "And you...?" he asked expectantly.
"Huh? ... O— Oh! I..." Carock smiled nervously. "I came here to meet someone and then wait with him for someone else... Heh... I suppose that's been delayed..."
"Would you like to sit?" Ganondorf gestured toward a u-shaped, bench-like protrusion surrounding a shallow pit.
Carock flinched, "O— Oh! I—"
"We found someone!" Carock flinched again, this time at the voice speaking a language unfamiliar to him. Ganondorf turned toward its source, knowing knew it was Gulbara. "Looky-looky, sure he's no Tözy!" Sisel and Saitel emerged from one of the doorways. Carock stared at the orange-haired, yellow-eyed, umber skinned women— the one on the right was burnt umber and the other raw. They were both scantily clad in midriff baring halter tops and poofy low-riding pants. The one on the right wore a golden nose-ring and green makeup and her chin-length hair was as straight as his own. The one on the left had a little mole just below her left eye, wore big golden hoop earrings, and bright yellow makeup; her hair was cropped short and slicked back. They were both holding Tarock by his forearms and practically dragging him out with them. Gulbara came out behind them, then stood in front, and said, "Or at least he doesn't dress like one!"
She wore a green halter top that would have exposed quite a bit of mammary valley had she not been wearing a black bandeau under it. She also wore loose black pants under a widely split overskirt that was green on the right side and dark red on the other. The lower half of her halter top and the green part of her skirt both had a brown border with red and light green backgammon-like triangles pointing away from the skirt's edge. Her arms were covered from her knuckles up to her pits with black fingerless gloves and her feet were clad in green shoes with an upward point at the toes showing a red underside. Her hair, eyes, and skin were all the same colors as Ganondorf's. Her hair was pulled back into a long, wavy, poofy ponytail, parted on her left, and framed her face with a lock of hair on her left that fell a little past her chin and a longer one on her right tucked behind her head somehow.
Ganondorf surveyed the Zuna in Sisel's and Saitel's clutches. His skin was a darker shade of green than Carock's, his eyes were olive, and his eyebrows were smaragdine. His cheek bones were rather pronounced and his chin was wider than Carock's, like a rounded-off rectangle. His head was covered with an off-white kaffiyah and he wore a loose, off-white, billowy-sleeved tunic tied with a beige belt over poofy, sand-colored pants. His feet were clad in heavily worn, tan shoes. The Zuna's eyes widened in recognition as he saw Carock, whom looked relieved. Ganondorf glanced between the two and asked, "Carock, do you know this man?"
"Yes, he is one of my brothers and the person I came here to meet."
Gulbara looked at Carock with a raised eyebrow and then threw a teasing glance at Ganondorf before she noticed the pink crystal.
"Woah, woah, woah!" Gulbara cried, "What happened to this jerk?" and gestured up an down at the dead Tözlam in the crystal.
"I assume he poisoned himself while I was looking around." Ganondorf grumbled. Tarock's eyes widened when he beheld the corpse and felt a slight sense of relief, knowing that these people likely have a beef with the Tözlams. Carock brought his left index knuckle to his lips. He had noticed the crystal but had not examined it closely enough to notice the person inside. He was surprised how relieved he was that it was not someone he knew... Surprised because a Tözlam he knew was as likely to slay him as one who did not so it should hardly have mattered either way... He mentally shrugged.
Gulbara groaned in frustration and crossed her arms. "Well now what do we do?!"
Another voice rang out from the other doorway, "Huh? Wait, what do we do about what? What happened?" Carock looked over and saw a statuesque, red-haired, cupreously skinned, chiseled woman in leather armor accompanied by another shorter and thinner woman clad similarly to the women holding his brother. She and the tall woman looked like they were very closely related. A third woman with a very thin face and needle-like nose joined them. She was clad much like the majority of her companions but, having khaki skin, was a tad pale in comparison and she had very bright red hair.
Carock and Tarock exchanged glances.
"Excuse me, but just who are you guys?" Tarock asked.
"Nuh-uh, you first!" Gulbara declared.
"Weh— uhh—"
"My name is Carock Zabat." Carock answered, "I live in Ekankitay with my ward. He has been abducted by Tözlams and I aim to rescue him."
"Ca— Carock... Should you really—?" Tarock stuttered.
Carock ignored Tarock's words and gestured at him. "This is my second eldest brother, Tarock Tovichagits. We're waiting for our older brother Shadrock."
Ganondorf mentally flinched. He recalled how people in other cultures change their surname upon marriage, mostly the women but sometimes men (most commonly due to the woman's legacy being more culturally significant or the man's surname being something horribly embarrassing, like Butkis or Tits)... But before he could broach the subject, Aveil saved him the trouble.
"If you're brothers then why do you have different surnames?" she asked accusingly.
"I shed our family name." Tarock answered casually, "I prefer not to talk about it to strangers." he added and then stared pointedly at Carock.
"I had to be separated from them and was adopted by a Yona family." Carock declared, "I took on their surname."
Aha... That's why... Ganondorf concluded as he gazed at Carock with gentle, relaxed eyes. It sounded like Carock was unmarried, at least... He hoped that Carock was also without a lover— and looking. He was fairly certain that he was at least physically Carock's type, what with all the blushing and ogling the Zuna directed at him.
He also wondered about the implied situation with their kin but decided not to ask about it. Tarock clearly did not want to speak of it and it did not feel right to pry it from Carock... Yet. Ganondorf hoped he and Carock would, at the very least, have a chance to reach a level of closeness in which asking about it would not be considered wildly inappropriate.
Feeling like he was being stared at, Carock glanced over at Ganondorf and blushed again as his lips once more curled into a v-shape. Ganondorf smiled back.
Matsel peered wide-eyed at them for a moment and then smiled as she restrained a giggle. Gulbara had sidled over to Matsel and elbowed her while waggling her eyebrows. Matsel grinned while nodding at her. The other Gerudo glanced about at each other as if to see if anyone else had noticed the goo-goo eyes being exchanged between their king and this stranger. Everyone had. Most of the Gerudo seemed pleased or at least amused over it. Aveil, however, scowled.
"Whatever happened to making sure we don't have any nasty surprises waiting for us?" Aveil grumbled in Gerudean.
"Better be talking about that corpse, sweetheart." Matsel whispered back in the same tongue.
Tarock frowned suspiciously at Ganondorf. "So..." he began, "who are you guys?"
Ganondorf's smile faded into a more neutral expression as he looked up at Tarock. "I am Ganondorf Dragmire," he declared, "King of the Gerudo." and gestured at the women with a slow sweep of his arm.
"King?" Tarock asked, eyebrow raised.
"Yup!" Gulbara chirped. "I'm his sister, Gulbara Dragmire! I'm a priestess at the This Temple."
Carock and Tarock each cocked an eyebrow and tilted their heads, ays tačarn?
"The Spirit Temple." Ganondorf corrected.
Oh, Carock's and Tarock's faces returned to normal and they nodded in understanding, hogi tačarn. They also realized that she had used the archaic, nominal definition of ays, 'evil spirit', not its still-used, pronominal definition.
"What? What did I say?" There was a short exchange between the two in Gerudean, ending with her shouting something ("Well, excuse me! We can't all be omniglots!") and him shrugging and rolling his eyes. The exchange caused Carock to side-eye Tarock with a smirk.
"I'm Matsera Dragmire," she declared " I'm a guard at the temple." Matsel gestured toward Ganondorf with a curt twitch of her head, "Ganondorf and I are fairly distant cousins. That's why we have the same family name." 'Fairly distant' as in twenty-something-th cousins distant. Matsel had descended from Koume and Ganondorf from Koume and Kotake's long deceased sister Tajimi.
"I'm Aveil Dragmire, daughter of Matsera and Ganondorf Dragmire." Aveil blared with a just a bit of a snarl. Carock could have sworn she was glaring at him.
Ganondorf glared at Aveil as Matsera side-eyed her and added, "Oh, fine. I'm also his ex-wife."
During the following silence, Carock shifted uncomfortably and wondered why their marriage ended. After a few throats were cleared Sahar spoke up.
"Well, er— anyway... I'm Sahar Gezavra. I'm an— attainer." Thief? Spy? Bounty hunter? Due to the circumstances and context, Carock understandably, but incorrectly, assumed that 'attainer' referred to one or both of the latter two options.
"I'm Sisel Zelzorea." said the one with the nose ring "I'm a guard."
"Me too." said Saitel, "My name is Saitel Kathova."
"We're here to track down some traitors and attempted kidnappers and bring them to justice!" Gulbara declared.
"Where are you all from?" Carock asked, looking specifically at Ganondorf, hoping he would answer... For no reason in particular... It is not like he wanted to hear more of his deep, burring voice or anything. Not at all.
"Geldina." Ganondorf replied, "We came here through a tunnel from the east. It was enchanted so I couldn't honestly tell you how far we've actually travelled." he explained. "So..." he smiled at Carock again, "when should we be expecting your other brother?"
"Well, he was supposed to be here by evening but— well— you know... The storm."
"I see..." Ganondorf then turned to the other Gerudo and asked them in his native tongue, "Was Tarock the only other person here?"
"Yes, sir!"
"Release him, then, and let's rest."
Tarock was visibly relieved when Sisel and Saitel let go of his arms. He peered at the dead Tözlam and said, "Hey, you know, if that guy has something on him, I'm sure Shadrock could help you with it when he gets here." Suddenly, all eyes were on him. "I'd help but their crap is always in Old Doldaran and mine's rustier than an old wrench in a river... And if it was written by The Prince's Sword— oof! Just can't do it. That guy couldn't write legibly to save his life!"
Carock twitched and side-eyed Tarock again for a moment, with irritation rather than fond amusement. "I could read it, even if he wrote it," Carock offered, "but I don't know their codes..."
"That too."
"So is Shadrock some kind of— mole? Or a spy?" Ganondorf asked, not bothering to query about 'The Prince's Sword', assuming this did not refer to a literal sword, but the prince's muscle— like a knight or something, seeing how swords cannot write.
"He knows moles." Tarock specified.
"I see..." Ganondorf muttered thoughtfully. He turned toward the crystal and held out his hand. It flashed faintly and clouded over as he said, "He will stay fresh in there for now." he explained and then gestured toward the benchy protrusion, "Carock?"
Carock nodded and sat down.
"Well, I don't know about the rest of you but I'm taking a nap." Matsel declared with a yawn as she began to wander off into one of the rooms. "You should too, Aveil."
"But, ma...!" Aveil protested in Gerudean. Tarock and Carock understood anyway. Everyone is familiar with that tone. Also, Carock had observed many times that the words people use to address their parents are oddly consistent across languages, with the most common confusion being whether "b" sounds refer to the mother or the father.
"You should." Matsel interrupted, also in Gerudean.
"But, dad's..."
"A grown-ass man. He can do what he wants."
Aveil crossed her arms and glared at Carock. The fuck she's scowlin' at me for? he wondered. Then she turned with a huff and followed her mother.
Gulbara turned her head over toward where Matsel and Aveil had gone. "I need to go around and make sure nobody's unmoveably sore later." and stode off toward Matsel and Aveil first.
"Anyone hungry? I'll get a fire started..." Saitel offered. No one had problem with that, especially not Ganondorf and the other equally famished Gerudos. Sisel assisted her and Sahar opted to sit near the entrance.
Sisel looked over to Tarock and said, "Hey, Raggles."
It took Tarock a moment to realize she was talking to him, "What? Raggles?"
"Yeah, is there anything good around here to scavenge?"
"Depends. Are you going to share?"
Meanwhile, Ganondorf sat by Carock, leaned his elbows against his knees, and gazed at him with a smile.
Carock's eyes settled upon his hands resting in his lap and glanced up at Ganondorf periodically until he finally looked him straight in the eye and asked, "Is it customary for a king to join his guard in such a venture?"
"Not usually, but I like to see to things personally as much as I can." Ganondorf answered, "Although, whether they meant to or not, the kidnappers pressed the issue by targeting my granddaughter."
A/N: In this fanfic, "Geldina" is what I'm calling Gerudo Valley, the Haunted Wasteland, the Desert Colossus, etc. collectively. The Veredo's territory is called, "Verdina" FYI.
Yes, "Tits" is a real surname— seriously, look up Jacques Tits— and it's pronounced like "Teats". It is my headcanon that Cia's surname is Tits. *cackle cackle*
BTW, this ˇ is a caron, a diacritic also known as a háček, wedge, inverted circumflex, and inverted hat. If you can't see it there for some reason then you can also see it above the "s" in "Norašxarhakan" and, well, the "c" in háček, lol. I was going to call his smile "u-shaped" but apparently that means something other than a closed-lipped smile that's literally shaped like a u.
Zyovna is a portmaneau of Yona and Zuna and refers to Yona and Karstzuna hybrids, which are likely the most common kind in Barida Bay (would be seconded by Veldtzuna and Veredo hybrids were it not for the fact that the vast majority of them look like and are considered to be plain ol' Veredo). Another word for them is Karstzuyona and a Doldaran pair of words for them are Delvevägena and Vevädelgena with their words for individual Zyovna being Delveven and Vevädelen.
Kelsïdecyefor (spelled with a "ts" in the fic instead of a "c") means "Kel's Teacher".
...
Yeah, I made a conlang for the Doldarans. Why shouldn't I make a conlang? I'm a big fat nerd who instantly recognized that "werifestria" is not a real word (especially not an Old English verb. It is a complete and utter bungling fail of an OE verb) and fills out Swadesh lists for fun.
And there it is, A/N and all.
Here’s some of the changes that I absolutely WILL be making:
How Carock and Ganondorf meet. As I had explained in a previous post, he will most likely join in the skirmish between the Gerudo and the Tözlams.
The first thing Ganondorf hears Carock say will not likely be “FUCKING SANDSTORM!!!11!!!” in Doldaran, rofl.
Ganondorfese for “HOLY SHIT HE JUST FUCKING WRECKED THAT GUY WITH ONE SPELL FROM HIS FINGER THAT’S SO FUCKING HOT” will be present in some form or fashion, lol. Most likely either in thought or in narration.
Ganondorf will notice that Carock’s male without having to hear his voice.†
There will be an in-fic reference to magic causing people who have an aptitude for it or are experienced with it to be susceptible to falling in love at first sight.
Carock enters the cave with the Gerudo instead of shortly after.
He also gets to tell them to expect someone else in the cave and will give them a short description of Tarock.
Ganondorf makes the captured Tözlam fall asleep.
The “the this temple” joke will either be gone entirely or left unexplained.
Why the heck am I rambling about how children address their parents being so similar across languages? Is that freaking necessary? NNNNO! NNNNNOOOOO!!! *dramatically shakes fist* That aside will be much, MUCH shorter if not removed entirely.
† I am currently considering some more visual sexual dimorphism (other than genitalia) to establish for Karstzuna (though Carock being part Yona will blur the extra dimorphism a bit… It already blurs vocal sexual dimorphism but more in a masculine direction than an androgynous one). I’ll talk about that later.
There’s, like, fifty bajillion reasons TCT is taking so long to update…
Me reconsidering the exact details on how Ganondorf and Carock meet is one of them.
I want to give Carock a chance to show off some of his magical prowess to Ganondorf before proper introductions are made and Carock royally wrecking a Tözlam that’s about to get a hit in on Ganondorf during the short skirmish that Carock originally stayed out of is just hunky-dory.
It also gives Carock a chance to tell Ganondorf and the other Gerudo to expect to find Tarock in the cave they hide out in during the sandstorm.
I’ll still post the old version, but on my blog only and not with the fanfic on fanfiction.net.
So I have a Carodorf database in Sims 3 where they're living in Dragon Valley...
And Zavrel, their first child (whom I didn't feel like tabbing out to get the dark l (ł) for, lol), was about to age up to toddler so I had Ganondorf and Carock throw a birthday party and they invited all the family members I had made thus far (FYI, I have a lot of nraas mods, like Story Progression, Woohooer, Master Controller, etc.... I freaking love the module on MC that lets you add family members outside of CAS).
Guess what Zolavor and Abirad did at the birthday party?
They hopped into Ganondorf and Carock’s bed, tried for a baby† IN FRONT OF EVERYONE, and then left before I had Zavrel blow out the candles.
Oh, and Abirad, Mr. "Romantically Diffident" initiated it... XD
Combining Woohooer with traits like "Family-Oriented" makes for some shameless Sims, lol.
† I know because I used Master Controller to check their status. Zolavor is going to have a boy soon. XD
