For months I have kept this cocoon in a jar and wondering whether or not I should just toss it. However, the other day I dumped the jar contents onto the ground to see if anything was different and the cocoon wiggled with discontent! Placing it carefully back with all of the contents I waited for another week and tonight at exactly 9:54pm I became the proud parent of a Carolina Sphinx Moth (aka Tobacco horn worm). Absolutely made the wait worth it and now to set it free because this has been quiet the lovely adventure but if he flies off that branch in the house I’ll loose my mind.
