The first time you woke up beside her, she was crying.
Carol Danvers had been taught by the Kree to get a handle of her emotions, to never show her weakness to anyone, and most importantly, to never let anyone see her cry. You were not sure on what to do, or how to react to this new vulnerable Carol; the tears were hot on her cheeks with her lips parted and soft whimpers leaving her mouth. You glanced around the ship, Goose perking up from her spot ready to jump into bed if necessary.
You remembered letting your hand wipe away the tears, leaning in to place a soft kiss on her forehead before whispering reassuring words in her ear. It took some time, but soon she was crawling on you, burying her face on the nape of your neck, and going back to sleep. And, from that day on, that was how you usually slept. That was how Carol usually got some rest.
You blinked a couple of times, the yellowish light of the morning sun sneaking around the curtains in your room. You allowed yourself a lazy smile, your ears catching the ruckus happening on the kitchen on the first floor while the woman sleeping almost on top of you snuggled closer to you. You let your fingertips draw circles on the naked skin of her sides, enjoying the proximity of her and the memories washing over your mind.
Waking up with Carol Danvers in your arms was like a dream come true.
For more than five years, you and she had stayed on Earth giving up the role of heroes to become just normal citizens of the world. The universe had changed, and more heroes had come forward to take upon their shoulders the sacred duty of keeping peace in the galaxy; for Carol it had been hard to make the decision, for you it was something you had decided a long time ago.
The life you two shared at the moment didn’t come without sorrows, fights, and uncertainty.
You were pretty sure there was no other mismatched pairing as Carol and yourself were. Both hotheaded, both stubborn, both with a defined idea of what was right and what was wrong, coming to such a hard decision had come after a fight and a threat of losing one another.
Carol loved you enough to step back, and you loved her enough to continue fighting.
And just when everything seemed to have ended between the both of you, a threat appeared on the horizon and those new heroes came barging in to save the day. The New Avengers had surpassed their teachers, and you and Carol gave one another chance.
Another crashed followed by laughter rose around the house, the sleepy figure by your side shifted slightly placing soft kisses on your neck, that teasing hand placed on your waist dancing around your skin.
“I am afraid to go down and see the kitchen destroyed.” Carol mumbled huskily; you chuckled tilting your head to glance at her.
“I am afraid to even get a taste of what they are doing. I still haven’t recovered from the last time Kate and America tried to make something…” You shivered and Carol chuckled lifting her face from your neck.
Her eyelids were heavy around her eyes, her lips curled into lopsided grin that you returned before closing the gap between the both of you. The kiss soon turned into a full make-out session with Carol turned to her back, you placed your thigh between her legs while applying pressure to her core. You loved waking up with her like this, love how soft she was under your hands, how even though she looked tough and commanding she could melt under you, give in control whenever the situation demanded.
You smirked at her expression when you decided to stop and move away from her.
“Wh-what…” She blinked a couple of times holding herself up on her elbows, her eyes gleaming dangerously mad at you. “What the hell?”
“Everyone is downstairs, love, and everyone must be waiting for us…in a few moments, Ms. Khan is going to come knocking on our door, and I don’t want her to be scared again because she heard us having sex.”
“Ugh.” Carol dropped back on the mattress covering her face with the blanket just as you pat towards the bathroom, the blonde-haired woman still remembered that day in which she and you got the talk about not being loud or actually put on schedules so no one in the house would be scared for life.
Carol waited for a moment, she considered her options and soon she was tossing the blankets around while making her way to the bathroom. In there, Ms. Khan couldn’t hear them, right? She smiled to herself at her clever plan, it would take a while but at least she would get what she wanted before joining the circus downstairs.
________________________________________________
The place looked exactly as you expected it would look like the moment you offered your home for the celebrations.
Kamala and America were celebrating their graduation from High School, while Peter, Kate and Cassey were celebrations their graduation from university. You smiled when your eyes fell on Kamala who was in deep negotiations with a little brunette that was pouting while refusing to let go of the bangle, she had grabbed for herself, Bruno stood by the side holding back his smile.
The amount of noise filling up the first floor of your home made your heart fluttered with happiness. It had been so long since you last welcome everyone in your compound that you almost forgot what it was like to be part of the people in charge of the protection of the world, a warm hand wrapped tenderly around yours and you didn’t need to turn to know Carol had caught up to you just to witness what was happening in the kitchen.
“Finally, you two are awake!” Muneeba Khan appeared out of nowhere looking at the both of you with a firm scowl on her face, she put her hands on her hips shaking her head. “This place is a house of madness, and you two decided to sleep in!”
“Sorry, Ms. Khan!” You and Carol said at the same time, the older woman was about to continue with her scolding when the little brunette came running right into your arms.
“Mama!!”
“You beautiful baby!” You knelt down picking the little girl in your arms, she giggled while you lifted her in the air making her giggled happily. “What is that in your arm, Princess?”
“Behan Kamala gave it to me!”
“I did not!”
You chuckled while the little girl gripped the bangle tightly to her chest, you poked her nose while Carol huffed beside you two stretching her hand up.
“Emma, give it back.”
“Nu-uh!” The girl shook her head stubbornly, turning around and running away.
Kamala winced looking at you with her hands on her hips, “Y/N!”
“Kamala she is like five years old! Go after her!”
“But…but she won’t give it back! Please help me…” Kamala winced hearing her bangle falling to the ground, a shriek and Yelena and Kate arguing all over again.
“Kamala, really just tell Emma that you will get her a different one.” You replied amusedly, Kamala crossed her arms pouting and you finally found the person that taught Emma such a pose.
“Fine! Ugh, Emma come here!”
You observed them with amusement, your heart tugging in your chest just as Emma showed from behind a door laughing when Yelena picked her up and was helped to hide from Kamala who was being helped by Kate who, at the same time, was being stopped by America while Peter stood in the corner with Cassey.
The house was always at its best when all the children were home. And you were reminded of the moment your children came into yours and Carol’s life.
Emma was the glimmer of hope that had brought happiness and peace to Carol's nightmares.
The first time you two talked about children she had panicked, and she had run from you. You found her fighting a group of poor unsuspecting pirates attacking on the south coast of Tanzania. You finished the battle with a single click of your hand, and Carol was forced to face you. She was scared of the consequences of a family, of her not being able to be a mother, or a wife or anything that you might want. But you just wanted her, and the conversation ended there for the moment.
The second time you two talked about children, it was Ms.Khan who brought the topic. She asked about the possibility of biological children during lesbian se, if magic or alien technology intervene. You were horrified, Carol was horrified, Kamala was mortified, and Mr. Khan for the first time cut off his wife by dragging her away.
By the time it was quite obvious this was something you two had been thinking about, Carol was the first one to ask. Would you be carrying the baby? How many could you two have? Would it be better if you adopt them?
You remembered cutting her words with a kiss and a marriage proposal. Kids were the future, but first the both of you need to forge the present. So you two got married and then, as time passed by, children came into your life.
First was Emma.
Sweet Emma was born in a loveless home, put to death by a cult and rescued by America and the Team in a world without sun.
She had been a small and sick child, always crying and looking for the warmth that Carol could offer. The little girl loved snuggling closer to Carol when she was using her power to warm her up. She had grown to be an amazing girl, and you had seen the potential behind her brown eyes and mischievous smile. She would be trouble, their own Captain Trouble.
Then, came Nicolas.
The little boy that was the spitting image of Carol Danvers.
The boy you had carried in yourself and that was as much as your son as Carol's. You lifted your face to see America carrying Nico around approaching the group with a huge smile on their faces.
If someone were to ask you how you picture your future, this was not it. You could never imagine that Wanda would not be there with you, or that she would cheat and you would leave earth at any point. You never imagined that you would fall in love with Carol, or that she would fall in love with you.
You never imagined your house filled with children, teens and a found family that lived meddling around and that were always bringing smiles to your faces.
“Hey, you're thinking too loudly.” The voice to your side startled you, Natasha smiled softly at you glancing at the full house then settling her eyes on you.
“I never thought it would be like this.” You grabbed the mug of hot chocolate Natasha was offering you, a loud bang and laughter soon filled the house and the thunder outside followed by a couple of profanities told you Thor had done something inappropriate.
You snorted hearing Ms. Khan scolded everyone with the help of Pepper, and you knew things were under control. Natasha nodded towards the main exit and you followed her with a curious frown in place.
“How is everything going?” You blurted the question, Natasha sighed, glancing at the main yard leading to a couple or cars parked right outside.
“It's good, she is recovering.” Natasha put her phone out, tapping a few keys she handed it to you. “The people in Westview are recovering this Agatha lady was captured and is under Strange’s watch. But he is worried.”
And you could see why.
Wanda had gone down a path you never thought would be possible, she had not only lost you almost ten years ago but she had also lost everyone around her. She had closed off all possibilities of forging a friendship or familiar relationship with anyone inside the Avengers, and she had gone alone on a quest to find happiness.
It ended up wrong.
Whatever had happened, she had enslaved a full city creating a life in which you and her were happy. You two had a family. You two had twin boys that were the spitting image of their mother's. Monica and Riri had assisted Shield and Sword in the case and you were asked to come for additional help but you just couldn't. Carol had been left in the dark, and your own family needed you.
Besides, the sight of you being in a fabricate life in which you and Wanda had become a family scared you. Natasha placed a hand on yours, her features softned showing off the wrinkles forming around her eyes, her mouth and nose. She was growing old, and much like most of Earth's Mightiest Heroes she retired from active duty making sure the newest generation received good training and support.
“He wants to bring her here? Is he mad?!” You locked the phone, returning it tk Natasha shaking your head. “I can't put my family in danger, Carol doesn't know…”
“What is it that I don't know?” Carol appeared around the corner of the house, she had been wearing a grin that soon wiped out at the scene in front of her.
You were tense, with Natasha standing close to you and her phone in her hand. The both of you clamped your mouth shut and that was when Carol knew something was up.
“So, what I don't know…” She asked again, leaving her words hanging in the air, her steps taking her closer to you.
“Strange wants to bring Wanda here.” Natasha blurted out, you glared at her but Carol was now completely confused.
“Oh, I didn't know they were… Together?” Carol blinked seeking confirmation to her words but finding tension instead of answers.
“They are not.” You replied through gritted teeth, Carol lifted a brow then she turned to Natasha.
“Look, they both had taken care of America since she came here, and they just wanted to be part of this celebration.” Natasha clarified, Carol pressed her lips together before nodding to Natasha.
“Then tell them to come, everything is set up but I know we wouldn't say no to one of those barrels of Ale Wong keeps in his office.”
“Carol…” The use of her full name stopped Carol for a moment, she lifted a hand and kept her attention on Natasha.
“You can tell them to come, please Tasha, and can I have a moment alone with my wife?”
“Yes, of course.” Natasha sent an apologetic stare your way, and you knew you were in to provide explanations to Carol who now had her eyes on you.
“So, you care to explain?” She stood before you with her arms crossed, a tilt of her head and a glint in her eyes you were familiar with.
You sighed letting your hand fix your hair while your eyes lifted to the sky, it had been so long since you found yourself under the pressure of Wanda Maximoff. At the beginning of your relationship with Carol it had been a sore topic, it was quite evident that a part of you still felt something for her. With time, you and Carol learnt it was only natural, Tha affection remained in your heart didn't mean you were still in love, and you learnt to move on from those emotions without giving them a second thought. And Carol had learnt that you had eyes only for her, that your heart was in her hands.
So it wasn't jealousy that Carol was experimenting.
Well, yes, she was jealous, she had always seen the longing in Wanda's eyes. She had seen the lingering love in there while you remained clueless about it. But it had never bothered Carol too much. At the end of the day, you were by her side.
“Should I be worried?” Carol finally asked and you shit her a quick glance shaking your head.
“No, of course not.” You stepped closer to her, your arms finding her waist, your nose finding hers and your warm breath smelling of hot chocolate caressing Carol's face.
“I love you, my sunshine.” You whispered tenderly. “Some things happened recently, and I just don't want any trouble on this day.”
“You mean, the imaginary world Wanda created with you and the twins?” Carol rolled her eyes at your naivety, you looked shocked and the other woman smiled, placing her hand on your cheek.
“You are an idiot.” She said warmly before closing the gap and kissing you slowly.
You almost lost yourself in the kiss until you remembered her words.
“Wait, you knew?!”
“Of course I knew!” Carol snorted in amusement, and contrary to what you thought she would say she looked rather calm about the whole thing.
“Aren't you…” You gestured with your hand trying to look for the right words, Carol snorted, lifting a single eyebrow at you.
“Jealous?” You nodded at her words and she merely rolled her eyes. “Of course I was! I was about to blast the freaking dome down but Kamala stopped me.”
“Kamala knows?” Now, you were dizzy, the best kept secret you had ever had was everyone's common knowledge.
“It was an accident, actually. She was coming to hurt you for even thinking about cheating on me.” Carol chuckled. “It was sweet until we dig in more and found out about the hex.”
You narrowed your eyes, “why didn't you say anything?”
Carol shrugged, stepping back a little, “I knew that when the time was right you would come to me and explain what happened. Y/N I know you, I trust you… And whatever had happened with Wanda, I know that she is still a part of you and the team. We are family and we don't give our backs to family, you taught me that.”
“Gods, could I love you any more than I already do?” You wrapped your arms around Carol finding comfort in her, the other woman chuckled, shaking her head.
“I think that can be arranged.” She said nervously, you frowned, stepping back while locking your eyes to hers.
“What do you mean?” You scrunched up your nose, and Carol softened slightly at your expression.
She grabbed your hand, trembling. She took it to her abdomen and placed it there. It took you a couple of moments but then your eyes grew big and your lips curled into a huge grin.
“You mean…”
“Bruce just confirmed it but I suspect as much.”
“Yes!” You lifted her in your arms leaning in to kiss her passionately in between gasp of laughter and excitement.
The both of you had talked about a third child, Emma had been adopted and you had carried Nicolas, but a third child was a mystery for the both of you. Carol was not overly excited with the idea of getting pregnant, in reality she was just happy to have children as long as she didn't go through the pregnancy. It was fine by you, you did it with gusto and you had never been so happy in your life. But just as Nicolas was pure Carol, the both of you had wanted a third child to be pure you.
Carol had woken up one day asking to be a mother of your child. You had been confused at first until she just said.
I think I'm ready, I will carry your child and there is nothing you can do to stop me.
“Carol, this is amazing!! Come we have to tell everyone and then we are going to…”
“Easy there, tiger.” Carol giggled, stopping you before you went back inside to scream at the top of your lungs.
You stopped confused, eager to let everyone know until you realised Carol was serious.
“Today is their day, love, today we are celebrating their graduations and we are going to do just that.” She softened at the pout forming on your face. “This can wait, love. I want it to be our secret until everything is fine.”
“Fine, you're right.” Then you leaned in to steal another kiss. “Oh, but later I'm just going to show you how happy I am with this news, and we will celebrate.”
“Oh I will hold you to that.” Carol replied, smiling , leaning in to deepen the kiss.
_____________
The backyard had been changed for the occasion.
All around the main yard, torches had been placed to project light hues of yellow that resembled the afternoon light. The tables were filled with food and fine cutlery made of the colours that had represented each hero at some point in their history. They were family and, as such, they had been mixed up with everyone without any preferences just with the idea of sharing with one another while celebrating the accomplishment of the newest generation.
You shifted from one foot to the other, your eyes dancing around the place while Carol assisted a very demanding Muneeba that was barking orders to everyone helping with the food. You smiled tenderly, the older woman had become like a mother to you and Carol always making sure the both of you were eating, sleeping, and healthy at all times.
She adored the children, and her overprotective nature had become something Carol and you yearned whenever you were away from Jersey.
“Ammi is really giving it her all, uh?” You chuckled, wrapping your arm around Kamala, the young woman was holding Nicolas who was playing sleepily with her hair.
“She loves it, and Carol enjoys it a bit too much.” You glanced at your son, then at Kamala. “Congratulations, by the way. I knew you could do it.”
Kamala smiled sheepishly, “it is all thanks to you, guys. And to Peter who never gave up on my education.”
You rolled your eyes, snorting a laugh before making sure you were fixing some strands of hair.
“Want me to help you with the kid?”
“No, please, he is fine here and I miss him so much.” Kamala softened slightly. “Nothing is the same when Emma and Nico are away.”
“Gee, that makes me feel so love…” You commented teasingly, Kamala bumped against you rolling her eyes.
“You know I missed you two as well, I regret not having come over the Summer with Monica.” Kamala made a face while remembering that time of the year. “Jersey was horrible at that time, and perhaps I would have gotten the full family treatment you guys gave her. I'm starting to think you are loving her more than me.”
The declaration was overdramatic, you couldn't help the roll of eyes while making sure your arms were once more around the young woman. Your relationship with Kamala was special, she had idolised you and Carol at first but after that first mission she had grown to be like a little sister. Like another daughter. She and Monica behave like five-year Olds from time to time, and Carol was all for being that rebel auntie that would teach them cool things they would need when growing up.
When Emma had shown up in your lives, and Nico had been born, both of them had taken the role of big sisters and soon it was as if this found family always found a way to complement one another.
“You shouldn't be, now that you are off to college you can come over whenever you want.” You replied. “You know you are always welcome here, and you will always have a room here.”
Kamala threw herself at you making sure that Nico was snuggled closer while she melted into the tight embrace you provided. You grinned happily, one hand holding Kamala, and the other caressing your son’s hair, for a brief moment you lifted your face only to see Carol shooting at you a quick glance, her brown eyes warming up at the sight while her smile made your heart fluttered with yearn. You wished you could talk about the news; you knew that Kamala would just shriek into the sky before going in big-sister mode and fuzzed around Carol and the children. She had always had a soft side for Nicolas and Emma, and with this new baby she would probably short-circuit.
“You know I’m gonna miss you guys.” Kamala stepped back, tearing up a little. She was about to continue talking when a quick breeze cut through the afternoon and the buzzing sound of a portal interrupted all conversation happening around the yard.
The silence that fell around the yard was almost sepulchral, everyone was looking over the portal that had just opened to reveal Stephen Strange, Wong and Wanda Maximoff. Your body went rigid at the sight before you, there was a strange pressure around your chest and a deep void in your lower stomach. It had been so long since you last saw those green eyes looking at you, since you last saw the woman you had loved at a younger age.
Wanda Maximoff had changed.
Her hair was longer, and her face was tired and filled with unfinished troubles that had plagued her for far too long. You stopped asking about her, but you had known that she had been struggling with her powers and with her happiness; you didn’t like hearing about it, and more than once you had tried to reach out only to back down at the last minute.
Carol never understood it, and you had always made it clear this was a topic you didn’t want to talk about. But right now, seeing here in your home after hearing about Westview, well…you couldn’t hide, you couldn’t avoid her.
The silence was stretching around the place, and the tension was completely palpable around the room. America shifted forward, Emma hugging her arm with big, curious eyes glancing at Wanda. Before anyone could do or say anything, Carol sprung into action her lips breaking into a single smile while she stepped forward hugging Wanda briefly.
“Wanda! I’m so glad you came.” She stated stepping back before turning to Strange and stretching his hand with a wink. “Strange, as always late and making an entrance, you’re just missing the fanfare and would look just like Stark.”
“I will take that as an insult.”
“Hey, Mandrake, I’m right here!”
The banter broke the tension around the yard, and Wanda had stood frozen in place the moment Carol had welcomed her with such a warm gesture. Everyone soon let out the breath they were holding, conversation soon resumed and Carol was left alone with Wanda who was glancing at you then back at the blond-haired woman in front of her.
“So, how are you doing?” Carol asked mildly interested about it while standing subtly in front of Wanda’s line of vision.
Wanda blinked a couple of times, scarlet whisps of magic coming from her hands until another person came in wrapping her arms tightly around the brunette.
“Wanda! I thought you wouldn’t come.” America offered a warm embrace to the other woman, soon stepping back while her left hand was holding onto a small hand.
Wanda lowered her green eyes, softening completely when she took into the small frame of Emma Danvers.
The young girl tilted her head, on her left arm she was wearing a big bangle while her dressed was a mixture of the colours you had always favoured. Blue and Green. Wanda swallowed down her tears, opening her mouth before centring her attention on America then on Carol.
“Of course, I was coming, it is your graduation after all. And thank you for letting me come, I just…”
“Nonsense, you are welcome in my home, Wanda. Now if you excuse me…” Carol winced when there was a bang followed by laughter coming from the kitchen. “I think I may be needed in the kitchen.”
Wanda was not feeling overly welcome, she was still standing on the same place Strang and Wong had left her and her eyes tried to look around for someone familiar, someone that didn’t make her look and feel so out of place. America could see the mounting anxiety in Wanda, she wished things were easier for the woman she considered like a mother, but America had heard the stories and she was unsured on how to proceed with this.
“Who are you?” Emma stepped closer looking up at Wanda who blinked a little before glancing down.
“I’m Wanda.” She replied cautiously, Emma nodded as if that explained everything before turning to America.
“She is your mummy?” America flushed looking at Wanda then at Emma then at Wanda again.
“Eh, something like that.” She replied lowly, Wanda felt her lips quirked and America decided her shoes were far more interesting at the moment.
Emma turned to Wanda grinning, “you’re pretty, and you’re red! All red!!! Buy you are black, all black!”
Wanda cocked her head; she opened her mouth to ask what the little girl meant when a voice she had yearned to hear once more reached her ears. You were standing right before her, there was not a single show of emotion on your face, but your eyes were gleaming with trepidation right to your side was your young protegee Kamala who was holding a small boy in her arms.
“She is an empath, but she can only differentiate emotions through colours.” You went to pick up Emma, softening completely as the girl giggled at you. “Hello Wanda.
“Y/N.” She replied in a weak voice, she was looking at the scene in front of her and her heart dropped at the familiarity. “It’s…it’s good to see you.”
You wait for a moment, poking Emma on her nose before turning to Wanda.
“It’s good to see you too.”
America and Kamala exchanged a knowing glance, America stepped in opening her arms and Emma was soon jumping from your arms to America’s ones.
“I think we…” Kamala started talking but soon trailed off not knowing what to say.
“You guys need to talk, and Nico needs a bed, and Emma needs less sweets, right young lady?”
“Nuh-uh!” Emma shook her head chuckling while everyone left and soon you were standing with Wanda all alone.
Coldness soon followed, and you realized there was nothing much you could say or talk with the woman standing before you. It had been so long since you last saw her, you knew you didn’t know her any longer. Wanda let out a heavy sigh putting her arms around herself.
“I know you don’t want me here.” She mumbled; you snorted shrugging.
“It’s not that, Wanda.” You brushed your hair making sure you didn’t look away from those green eyes. “It has been too long, and I didn’t know… how to approach you, or this conversation.”
Wanda nodded in understanding, “you know about Westview.”
Wanda knew sooner or later you would also get to know what had happened, the state of her mind that led her to such a situation. She feared that her life had been spiralling out of control ever since she messed up her chance at happiness with you. Wanda had never accepted the fact she had lost you, and it had been hard for her to try and go back on her feet without anyone or anything to hold onto. Now, after all those years, she was finally starting to understand her emotions and her powers.
“I do.” You shrugged turning around to see everyone busy with one thing or another, you tried to look for Carol but your wife was nowhere to be seen. “I know everything about it, I received updates of everything that happened during and afterwards.”
Wanda winced hating that you had been given full access to her file. It was almost logical that would happen, at some point they thought you and your family were in danger. Everyone thought sooner or later, Wanda would come to claim you for her alone.
“How have you been, Wanda? I know that living in Kamar Taj is not ideal, but I also bet it has been interesting.” You offered small talk, Wanda hesitated before she started talking to you telling you everything she had done while getting to the temple and starting her recovery.
At the other end of the yard, inside the house Carol was watching the scene with a mixture of jealousy and anxiety. She could see how you and Wanda ease out, and soon the tension was gone and you two found yourselves talking slowly but surely about several topics. Carol knew she should not fear, but watching the easiness behind the conversation made her doubt.
She pressed her lips together and soon busied herself with the food. It was better for her to not think about anything at all.
_____________________________
Night had already fallen and the backyard had been illuminated with torches and lights that decorated the world while the celebration continued in your home. You were making sure Nicolas was snuggled comfortably on his crib, while Emma was fast asleep on her bed, the sound of laughter, conversation and music didn’t disturb them.
“They really had a good time today.” You leaned back to the woman standing behind you, Carol was warmth against your touch, her arms placed tenderly around your abdomen while her chin rested on your shoulder.
“They did. I think all of us did.” You replied not missing the glint of doubt in your wife’s eyes when you turned to face her. “What is it?”
Carol hesitated for a moment, she opened her mouth then close it again, then opened it again with more confidence.
“What did you think about Wanda?” The question was innocent enough, but you could tell there was more she wanted to ask but didn’t dare to.
If there was a topic that had always made Carol doubtful was the topic of Wanda. You were not completely aware of this at first, but with time and good observation skills you could teel there were some situations that still bother Carol a lot. And that day in particular you had seen it.
Jealousy.
Insecurity.
The Captain Marvel was just jealous, insecure, and afraid of a woman that had been buried in your past for far too long. And of course, you couldn’t blame her, that very day you had spoken with Wanda like you hadn’t done in so long, and soon Emma and Nicolas had been so curious about her they had come to the brunette with childish innocence that melted the witch away and made you stayed by her side for far too long.
Now, standing in your children’s room you could see the glimmer of doubt in her eyes.
You offered a half smile, with a single hand brushing her hair away before leaning in and wrapping your lips with hers. The kiss was soft at first, just a brush of lips asking for comfort; your hands wrapping around her waist putting Carol closer to you. With a tilt of your head, you deepened the kiss, your tongue asking for entrance finding the sweet, velvety tongue of Carol playing with yours.
“Mmm, what was that for?” Carol grinned touching your forehead with hers.
“I love you.” You whispered kissing her again, this time around hungrily until your heart fluttered at the whimper that left her lips.
“I love you too.” She replied chuckling, her eyes opening and glancing at you curiously.
“You are the light in my life, Carol.” You said seriously, and just as you said this you allowed the shadows around the both of you to grow and engulfed you in darkness.
Soon, just as it had always happened, Carol started gleaming from her chest all through her body. She snorted shaking her head when you leaned in placing sweet kisses around her jaw and neck.
“You gave me so much happiness, you gave me your love and a family and I just…” You trailed off, this time around your hands placing themselves on her abdomen. “I jus can’t stop falling in love with you every day…”
“So, I was that obvious, uh?” Carol tried to move away and hide away her shame at having been discovered in her childish emotions.
You snorted not letting her step away from your arms.
“Pretty obvious, love…but I love that side of you. I don’t get to see it too often.” You smirked, and Carol winced still trying to get away from you.
“So you like making me jealous…” She started, and this time around her eyes were showing a yellowish light that told you better kept your mouth shut.
“I like making you happy.” You replied rather cheekily, Carol rolled her eyes but the softening in her stare was enough to go back to place soft kisses on her face. “I can’t think of anyone or anything that would make me this happy, Carol. You have become my family, you and the kids and the little Captain that it is on their way.”
Carol chuckled stepping back just to make sure she was looking at you, “little Captain?”
“Well, we don’t know if it is a boy or a girl so…”
Carol bit on her lower lip tilting her head she dropped all pretences to let you see the vulnerability in her eyes.
“I just couldn’t help but thing how easily was for you to talk to her, for the children to approach her.” Carol made a face crossing her arms while shying away from you and her own vulnerability. “I know it was foolish, I feel stupid.”
You chuckled nodding in agreement.
“It was pretty stupid.” You agreed, Carol huffed turning around ready to leave the room.
“Okay, then you would prefer to sleep in the sofa with someone not as stupid as…” She hated the fact sometimes you made it easier for her to melt right away and fall into your arms.
It was your childish pout, and the glint in your eyes. The same mischievous smile that Nicolas had inherited and the one Emma was learning to make, Carol had to snickered when you turned her around dancing playfully while making her back away until her back came into contact with the door of your room.
“Nu-uh, Captain, I will sleep with you because I don’t think I will be able to sleep otherwise, and everyone is rather busy and Ms. Khan will make sure everyone behaves so…” You wriggled your eyebrows shooting Carol a flirty smile. “What do you say if we finished what we start this morning, and I show you that you are the light of my life, the woman that I wake up every morning for…That you, Carol Danvers, have my heart at your mercy.”
“God I forgot what a sweet talker you are.” The blond-haired woman stated though it was almost impossible for her to wipe away her grin.
“And you love me for that.” You exclaimed proudly, gasping when Carol dragged you into the room pressing you against the door making sure it was completely close.
“You are impossible.” Carol then leaned teasing your lips with hers. “Now, what do you say if we stop talking and you just finish what you start this morning.”
“Aye, aye, Captain.” You leaned in sealing the night with a searing kiss.
Later, when the sound of music, laughter and conversation had died of, and you laid in bed with Carol lying on top of you fast asleep you tilted your head to see the moon shinning in the distance. You had always held darkness inside you, your travels around the universe had taught you about your race and the birth of your civilization. You knew the potential for evil and shadows inside you, and in the midst of al of this was Carol Danvers.
At some point she had become your light.
The only one that could disperse that darkness and ignited inside you the spark of hope, love and peace. Carol was the mother of your children, she was your wife, but most importantly…
…Carol Danvers was the light in your life that you love.
