My hot take is that though I prefer Oklahoma! to Carousel in general, the Carousel film is better than the film version of Oklahoma!

i truly believe carousel the musical is a dimensionalized work that continues to live because you understand it once you’ve loved wrongly, without safety, and you still want that person to know it felt good sometimes, and idk maybe your best friend who is a girl is who you should have been with, idk it was great when their kids liked each other but like, didn’t end up together because of the wrong turns their parents had taken
