After Rowan Khanna’s older sister, Jasmine, disappeared while  investigating the mythical Cursed Vaults, Rowan and her twin brother, Ash, are determined to uncover the truth behind their sister’s disappearance. As they prepare for their first year at Hogwarts, Rowan and Ash meet the O’Donnell quadruplets, each one with their own interests and ambitions. While Rowan is sorted into Hufflepuff and becomes close friends with Sara O’Donnell, it’s her relationship with the Slytherin Cara that grabs her attention over the years. For most of their time at Hogwarts, it’s a platonic relationship… but after everything and with the victory of understanding Jasmine’s disappearance, Rowan kissed Cara in that moment of victory.

CARA & ROWAN

It’s 1995, and they’re at a combination of a holiday party and an engagement celebration. Cara’s sister had recently become engaged to her boyfriend of about seven years. Many of their friends and Cara’s family are with them, celebrating the upcoming holidays and the long expected engagement.

Both have been dancing around the feelings that have recently been building. Nearly eleven years of friendship, and neither expected the sudden romantic feelings that have been plaguing them the past six months. But, it’s easy to push that aside when surrounded by so much happiness and joking.

Cara was explaining the ridiculous holiday traditions that she and her siblings have when their friends started drunkenly chanting “kiss.” Rowan looked up and noticed the mistletoe. Her cheeks heated up and she pushes her glasses back up her suddenly sweaty nose.

“We don’t have to do it. If you don’t want to,” Cara said, her face bright red.

“It’s tradition,” Rowan responded, leaning to brush her lips against Cara’s. There’s a resounding cheer and the crowd turns away.

Cara takes advantage of the moment and presses her lips against Rowan’s again. Her fingers slid through Rowan’s hair. Rowan’s hands fisted into Cara’s sweater.

SARA & BARNABY

It was their fifth year, shortly after the OWLs had finished. She’d had a bad day, everything had gone wrong and it was just a bad day. He hadn’t seen her all day and thought that that was odd. She wasn’t one to hide away and disappear. He found her in an abandoned classroom and had smiled at her. She had smiled back, and hugged him before sitting back down. He let her ramble about her day, listening intently to everything that she said.

She smiled when he offered his condolences for her bad day. A sudden impulsivity raced through her and she stood up. Even at fifteen, he had a few inches on her. Standing on her tiptoes, and wrapping her hand gently around his tie, she leaned up to brush her lips over his. It was a short moment, and her cheeks heated as she let him go. However, he took advantage of the moment and pressed his lips to hers again. He tangled his fingers into her dark hair and sighed.

CONOR & RUTH

It was seventh year. They were studying for the NEWTs, the rest of their group had long since retired. They couldn’t help but stay up a bit later, going deeper into the materials of their shared classes. But, they’d drifted off of academics about thirty minutes prior, talking about a whole host of random things from their plans post-graduation to their favorite music groups. They’d discovered a shared appreciation for R.E.M. and The Cure, as well as a plan to attend muggle university. He had an ambition to become an architect, and she wanted to learn more about how to teach.

“We should probably head back to the tower if we want to avoid getting caught,” she said, pushing herself to stand up.

“You’re probably right,” he replied, standing up himself.

They stood centimeters apart and turned their heads at the same time. Their lips brushed against each other and both leaned in to make the kiss a tad deeper. Conor’s glasses slid down his nose a little to bump into Ruth’s nose. Her fingers tangled into his soft sandy brown hair. He sighed, but the moment was broken by a sudden meow. They sprung apart, both beet-red.

7.) Write a ~300 word love scene for them.

Cara O’Donnell was exhausted. Her job at the shop wasn’t too tiring, but with the threat of Voldemort looming over them at all hours of the day, it was hard to sleep. Her siblings were all doing different things. Sara was working at St. Mungo’s, and was engaged to Barnaby, which was no surprise. Ryan was working with Bill at Gringotts and Conor was immersed in the world of architecture. It still felt odd to not be sharing a home with them. They’d been together since they were born.

Cara shrugged off her coat and dropped onto the couch next to her girlfriend. It felt good calling Rowan that. They’d been friends for years, yet it was only recently that they’d started dating.

“Long day?” Rowan asked, handing her a mug of hot chocolate.

“Everyday feels like a long day with He-Who-Must-Not-Be-Named on the loose. It feels worse than the Vaults,” Cara responded.

“In some ways it is. For me the Vaults will always be worse.”

Cara winced. “Sorry. I didn’t mean to imply that Ash’s death wasn’t terrible.”

“It’s fine, love. I don’t want to talk about him. At least not right now.”

“How was your day, then?”

“It was good. Nothing bad happened and we got a new shipment of antique books. Some are even first accounts of events like the Goblin wars. It’s so fascinating.”

Rowan’s eyes had lit up beyond her glasses and Cara couldn’t help but smile. Rowan’s excitement had almost always been infectious, at least to her.

“Really?” she asked and Rowan launched into a long-winded ramble about the merchandise the antique shop she worked at had just gotten in.

“Oh! We also got a few antique paint brushes, if you wanted to come down on one of your breaks and check them out! I think you’ll really like it. It might even help you become self-sufficient on your painting alone, especially your portraits. I know those are your favorite,” Rowan added.

“Really? That sounds great. I’ll try and come on Monday, unless you’d like to come check them out with me in the morning? Find them before anyone else does.”

“Of course. That sounds like fun. I can show you the books, too!”

Cara smiled and with her free hand, squeezed Rowan’s hand tightly.
