Porsche’s non-liveries through the 60s were It, man.
We see these kinds of re-interpretations and modernizations of classic racing cars all the time and they almost always disappoint. They almost always live in some parallel aesthetic universe where part of a car is futuristic and part is entirely rooted in the past. Whether by use of materials or incongruent lines or some unknowable design choice, they just never seem like something that could actually exist.
Designer Riccardo Angelini has done this impossible. He’s made one of these that I absolutely covet. There’s no sacrifice here. This modernization of the Porsche 906 is wholly modern and, somehow, wholly reminiscent of the original Carrera 6.
He’s done this better than Ford has with the GT versions. This is masterful. I want this in my driveway now. Right. Now.
