Carrine's been with Kaidan since ME1, and there is no one else for her in the galaxy. He's her person, full stop, and she'd probably let a planet burn if the choice was between saving it or saving Kaidan.
He's grounded and rounds out her rougher edges, a voice of reason and back up plans to her impulsivity. She brings him out of his shell and encourages him to take risks he probably otherwise wouldn't. They both grow so much and I adore them.
Commander. Shepard. Hero of the Citadel. Survivor of Akuze, survivor of Mindoir. Beacon of hope.
She bore a lot of names, none of them one she chose.
The universe has a way of being funny about that, and it's not like she was bothered enough by the name her parents gave her to bother changing it. Carrine was not a name used by many people, not anymore, and she only needed one hand to count them.
Carrine: The name Carrine, derived from the French name Carine, means beloved or treasured one. It reflects a sense of affection and endearment, encapsulating the emotional significance attached to those who bear the name. (source)
Carrine was technically named by her brother Ian, who disliked her parent's choice of Corrine. She's stubborn, owns maybe three sets of outfits and when in need of new ones just steals something of Kaidan's. She's very pragmatic and strict in her own moral code; the ME2 line of "I won't let fear compromise who I am" fits her perfectly.
She's not shy, but she does not let people in easily and is genuinely friends with very few people. She's blunt, doesn't see the point in sugar-coating anything, and is wildly overprotective of the handful of people she is close to. As a bit of personality bleed, she listens mostly to old school metal and hates the club music that's all over the Citadel and Omega.
carrine shepard: colonist, sole survivor, vanguard
(explanation under cut)
she lives in the n7 hoodie when not in armor. she has a suit and her dress blues for when she has to be formal, otherwise she's in the hoodie or a compression top on the ship or the apartment. she will not wear anything form-fitting or overly feminine.
carrine doesn't have a lot of hobbies during the trilogy, really. mostly she spends time modding her own and the crew's weapons. (i collect the model ships in game, but i really can't see her having the patience to put them together lmao) before mindoir fell, she liked tinkering with the old farm machinery around.
cliche, but she'd be a wolf. loyal to the few she considers hers and more likely to bite anyone else than not.
she always has spare ammo. like an alarming amount of spare ammo. "shepard why do you have that much ammo on you" is frequently said out of combat and in civilian areas.
carrine :) my child my darling dear with her revamped hair :) she will go thru the bob -> chop -> bob -> chop cycle until one day she probably will just shave it all off to be done with it.
the valkyrie is her favorite weapon in me3. assault rifles are her go-to, a near second being the m-22 eviscerator shotgun
kaidan is her LI all three games, and is her person full stop. she's demi, and would be not romance anyone else if he were not present, she's just not interested. she'd had no interest in anyone and had pretty much shrugged off romance and sex as options for her by the time me1 happens, and meeting kaidan throws her for a massive loop. ashley, a professional older sister, is very helpful and happy to have innocent blackmail on a superior officer.
the tower, upright: sudden change, upheaval, chaos, revelation, awakening. shepard is a hammer of change whether people want her to be or not, and is reshaping the lives of those directly involved with her in ways they probably never saw coming. chaos follows in her shadow and she is not afraid of a scorched earth, and history has placed her as the last man standing enough times for her to feel comfortable in that position.
"a favorite food or drink" :^)
(carrine is barred from alcohol in me1 due to her history as a teenage alcoholic and it nearly killing her. joker keeps her in line with it, as do kaidan and chakwas once they are aware. after all the cybernetics installed in me2, she finds she can't get drunk anymore and has some Very complicated feelings about that.)

Carrine met Joker right before they enlisted, while he was in flight school and she was under Anderson's guardianship instead of being shipped back to Earth to family she didn't know after Mindoir. She had some major problems with drinking, and he happened to find her after one of too many blackout episodes and managed to get her to help. They've stayed close ever since, and consider themselves siblings. It was no question that she would stay behind to drag him off the SR1, and when she doesn't trust Cerberus at all on the SR2, she can usually only sleep curled up in the corner of the cockpit.
Ian Shepard is her brother, 5 years older to the date. She assume he died on Mindoir, and did not find out he was kidnapped until the SR1 comes across a slaver ship and he's recovered. He's in intensive therapy on the Citadel and is transferred to the SR2 shortly after Shepard is revived. He handles other races better than he used to, but is never able to fully shake his distrust and avoidance of batarians. He eventually marries Miranda, and they have twin daughters. He and Carrine are extremely close, especially during her recovery post-ME3.
