Carson Jones Earns a Glorious Triumph over Brian Rose in 1st Round
On Saturday night, boxing fans enjoyed an electrifying match between American fighter Carson Jones and junior middleweight Brian Rose. Jones completelyoverwhelmed his rival by conquering him in the first-round to lift the WBC International super welterweight trophy at the Winter Gardens Blackpool, Lancashire, United Kingdom.
The 28-year-old Jones landed Rose with powerful shots from his dominant right hand, catching the Blackpool contestant off guard. With 28 seconds remaining in the first-round, referee Lan John-Lewis stepped in to terminate the fight. According to critics, it was a suitable offset by the referee since if he had let the game continue Rose could have been seriously injured.
Rose started the fight confidently, pursuing chances to punch Jones. Several good right-handed shots came towards Jones, but the Yanks response was quick and evasive. Jones counter-reacted to the attacks immediately with a powerful burst of jabs. Rose successfully recovered from the first setback, although clearly stunned by the attack. The Blackpool boxer was unable to match Jones’ ferocity as a several more shots flew towards him knocking him off balance once again.
This loss pretty much ends Rose’s dream of scoring another world trophy. Last year, he boxed WBO junior middleweight title ship against Demetrius Andrade in which Rose was punched out many times before the bout was stopped in 7th round.
Whispers about Jones being a weak opponent had caught fire since his defeat to Kell Brook in 2013. However, Jones’ triumph over Rose on Feb 14 has silenced his critics and rejuvenated a new image of the American fighter.
