Hey so I haven’t seen you post anything about it but I was wondering if you read any of the Percy Jackson books? If so, do you have any head cannons or thoughts on the series? What do you think of the show?
P.S. I love reading your stuff, it’s always fun seeing your writing
i do like PJO!!! [got a whole Dispatch au for it.. myehehe...]
also you are FAR too sweet, thank you sm!!
i read it largely when I was younger, and my favorite by far was the Kane Chronicles ehehe. Well, that and Magnus Chase [Hearth my beloved..] ↓ I actually own most of the series, sans Trials of Apollo- didn't really vibe with it- and the Solangelo book. I like Nico and Will, don't get me wrong, i'm just not that very invested in their romance.
i never post about it because- well- frankly, the fandom is... a little volotile for my tastes, yk? there's very little room for deviation or headcanons [i mean.. just look how they treated Leah...] and that sorta thing is just... exhausting after a certain point
I have an older post talking about how i think Carter could beat Percy, but specifically only in the desert because he has more experience fighting on sand- though it would be extremely close -> i also just sorta wanted more Carter//Percy, because I lowkey vibe HEAVY with that ship and think Carter is def Percy's type [nerdy badass that lowkey hated him for a second] and their interactions in the crossover were my favorite [Percy being SO so worried about him when they teamed up, i loved it] -> That whole book was gold. I loved Carter, who's usually pretty tall, being suddenly dwarfed by Percy. I love that Percy is also Carter's type [strong, loyal, can kick his ass] The only thing i didn't love is that, once again, Carter is often made the butt of the joke- instead of getting to show off
honestly, Carter and Leo are my absolute favorites in the riordanverse- which makes the way the narrative treats them rather grating [they're the 'joke', they're loners, and more often then not- they don't get checked on. They're just supposed to be okay, all the time. Not even mentioning Leo's return resulting in him getting slapped several times] -> it does open up a cool scene though, where Leo could be rambling about his machines- realize no one is listening, or have walked off, and make a joke about it like he usually does. One that's almost slightly just too bitter, and then startle when he realizes Carter is still there. "So.. that's how that works... tell me more?"
i don't know, maybe i'm just too sensitive, maybe it's just the fact that I don't find slapstick or caustic 'humor' funny- but these characters hardly ever get a chance to not be heroes. -> Percy gets this treatment too, and that's ALSO grating, but he's given a little more opportunities to be soothed and loved on as the main character- it's not to the same extent.
Carter's isolation, Leo viewing himself as an outsider, it's never addressed
ah, but vitriol aside, i do quite like the franchise!!! asks about it are always welcome <3 <3 <3
