PAST. Carter grew up privileged, with a father and mother who came into money at a young age. He was destined to be the same, as long as he kept his mouth shut and did what his parents wanted. Be a good kid, go to school. Work reasonably hard. Most importantly, don’t interfere with his father’s job. Carter’s dad was a politician, and an influential one in Texas. Conservative and seen as a beacon of good values. ‘Family values’. While Carter’s younger sister tried to uphold the same tradition, Carter was a rebellious teen. He was constantly running off in high school with friends, smoking behind the bleachers, and getting into some wild romps. Arrested a few times, bailed out every time by his father’s assistant who would come with a wad of cash and a sour expression.
Eventually Carter tried to go to college, but he couldn’t focus. When he dropped out, his father reminded him again that he was probably just ‘too stupid’ to go through something like that. Carter used the opportunity to get as many small jobs as he could, raising money on his own so he could get the hell out of Texas and stay away from his dad. Carter was sleeping around with men and women, still drinking and smoking and an absolute mess- but he was showing up to work regardless. Coffeeshops, restaurants, barbershops. He ran a newspaper stand, sold tickets to movies. He saved as much as he could and the second he could, he moved away from Texas at 26.
PRESENT. Currently, Carter is a waiter and shift supervisor at Mallory’s Diner. Something that is a secret to some is that he also works as an escort and call-boy. It’s something he enjoys, and it gets him extra money, but he knows the negative connotations, so he normally doesn’t tell people.
OTHER/INSPIRATION.
-Carter actually loves the restaurant industry- he just wishes he could get more money for what he does.
-He’s an absolute sweetheart. Remembers peoples’ orders and is always trying to go above and beyond at work. It’s why he’s done so well and become a shift supervisor and now can work at Mallory’s full-time.
-Carter still secretly thinks he’s too stupid to do a lot of things, but he’s actually very smart. He knows a lot about money and numbers, inventory, graphs, and scheduling.
