Hey y'all! Chapter 2 of Falling In Love At A Coffee Shop is now up! Check it out if you want! :)
So I started this new cartinelli fic because of a post here, which I won't share until my "short" fic is done. I meant it to be a short and quick read and an even shorter and quicker write. Oops. I swear I meant for it to be a quick fluff. But I'm working on it I promise.
cartinelli prompt: one of them gets really drunk and starts hitting on the other
Angie’s kind-of-sort-of-maybe in Peggy’s lap, because this chair is really too small for the both of them. Sitting on the floor got cold after about an hour, though, so here they are, with Angie’s back pushing Peggy’s shoulder against the chair and her hair brushing against Peggy’s neck.
"Can I play with your hair?" Peggy asks, even though her arm is stuck between Angie and the backrest. Angie nods and shifts so that Peggy’s arm is free, then settles back again.
Peggy, almost absentmindedly, winds her fingers in Angie’s hair. She’s not sure how much she’s had to drink. Wasn’t that much. Probably.
"I’m going to braid it," Peggy says, suddenly animated. She props herself up against the backrest and fiddles with a few strands of Angie’s hair. "I’m very talented at braiding hair. So, what do you want? I can do French, Dutch, English…”
"There is no such thing as an English braid." Angie scoffs and rolls her eyes.
"Of course there is," Peggy says, very earnestly. "It’s absolutely lovely. Everything English is lovely, as you well know." She shoots Angie a suggestive look.
"Very suave," Angie comments. "Really, I’m falling all over you."
"I’m thinking of something better." Peggy actually sounds mildly offended. "Just give a moment."
"Can’t wait, English." Angie tries and fails to repress a smile.
"Oh, I’ve got something." Peggy hasn’t stopped fiddling with Angie’s hair. "Are you my lines?"
"This better be good, Carter," Angie warns, then shudders when Peggy’s fingertips brush against her scalp.
Peggy ignores her. “Because I’ll never forget you,” she says, and Angie chokes out a laugh.
"Really, Peggy?" Angie rolls her eyes. "Where’d you pick that one up?"
"I’m trying to be relevant to your interests," Peggy says, and whacks the back of Angie’s head.
"Ow," Angie complains.
"You’re impossible," Peggy mutters, and then her fingers are in Angie’s hair again.
"Is that really all you got?" Angie asks dryly.
"I’m thinking.” Peggy pauses. “You’re so sweet you put Hershey’s out of business?”
"Enough," Angie groans, but she’s giggling. "Please stop."
"You’re under arrest," Peggy says, and seems really proud of herself. "For stealing my heart—"
Angie rolls her eyes, thinks to hell with it, and leans up and kisses Peggy, who, for a second, seems the tiniest bit surprised, and then her hand holds onto the back of Angie’s head and she’s kissing back—Peggy Carter is kissing Angie back, and there’s a weird jubilant feeling in Angie’s chest that she doesn’t want to go away, ever.
"You didn’t let me finish," Peggy says when Angie pulls back because she can’t stop smiling.
"That was kind of the point, English," Angie confesses, and Peggy almost knocks her off the chair in her haste to kiss Angie again.

cartinelli prompt: one of them gets really drunk and starts trying to pick up the other
"Angie." Peggy puts her hand on Angie's arm, and Angie stops giggling for a second, eyes wide. "If I'd have known you were such a lightweight, I'd have never let you open the bottle."
"Really, English?" Angie snorts. "I am extremely sober. You're drunk. It's clouding your judgement."
"I am not," Peggy retorts, offended. "I hold my liquor very well, thank you."
"Right." Angie nods skeptically. "You're convincing."
"Alright, Angie," Peggy says, leaning back against the bed. "Prove it. Put your hand on your nose and count backwards from a hundred by sevens."
"What?" Angie scrunches her nose up adorably, and Peggy giggles a little bit. "Where did you come up with that?"
"Old trick," Peggy says, and tries to wink. "Sobriety test."
"What makes you think I can do that sober?" Angie asks. "Trust me, Peg. It's not going to work."
"Oh, well that's no fun," Peggy complains, and smirks a tiny bit. "Really, Angie, there's no harm in admitting you're a lightweight."
"I am not," Angie protests, and crosses her arms. "I bet I'm still coordinated enough to carry you around the room."
Peggy outright laughs at that. "Why do I have trouble believing you?"
"Fine then," Angie says and gets up, not even swaying. "On your feet, English. You ready for this?"
"Alright, alright." Peggy pulls herself to her feet, bouncing on her toes a little. "Except for the fact that I'm a good two inches taller than you, I truly believe this will all work out."
"Shush," Angie says. She flexes a little, then wraps her arms around Peggy's waist. "I got this," she mutters, then tries to pick Peggy up. She more succeeds in just squeezing Peggy really tight, and gives up after a few seconds.
"What did I tell y--"
"I'm trying again," Angie says stubbornly. And she does, and Peggy swears that her feet lift off the ground a tiny bit. Then Angie falls over, because of course she does, and Peggy's not quite sure how, but they end up on the bed next to each other with Angie's arm caught under Peggy's back.
"That didn't work out," Angie says. Peggy nods and laughs, and can't stop giggling for a while. "I'm drunk," Angie realizes, and presses her face against Peggy's shoulder.
"You're drunk," Peggy agrees, and kisses the top of Angie's head.
Hello! Prompt: "You proposed to me days before my extravagant planned proposal TAKE IT BACK" + Cartinelli + Modern!AU?
"We should get married," Angie says, casually, like she’s commenting on the weather. Peggy stops straight in her tracks, with a forkful of spaghetti halfway to her mouth.
"What?" Peggy asks, shocked.
"I just proposed." Angie shrugs and looks down a little, pushing a meatball around on her plate. She looks up again, worried, when Peggy doesn’t say anything. "I’m sorry. I wish I could’ve come up with something more romantic, I just—" Angie sighs, puts her fork down, and runs a hand through her hair. "If you’re not ready—"
"I want to marry you," Peggy says earnestly, and Angie perks up, a smile at the corner of her mouth. "It’s just—oh, god." Peggy rubs her forehead. Angie wrinkles her forehead. "Can we just, er—move this conversation a few days into the future? Say, after the premiere of your play?"
"What?" Angie’s eyes dart around the room, like there’s some explanation of Peggy’s behavior hidden in the walls. "Why?"
"As a, uh, matter of principle?" Peggy ventures.
Angie narrows her eyes in confusion.”So you want to marry me, but you don’t want to say yes to me proposing to you?”
"I need you to take it back," Peggy bursts out, and grasps Angie’s hand from the other side of the table. "You’ll see why, just—just take it back, please?"
"Sure, English," Angie says, but she’s a bit offended, and Peggy can tell. "You sure you can’t just tell me why?"
"Yes." Peggy’s nodding, almost frantically. "You’ll see, Angie, I promise, I just—I can’t tell you."
A hint of suspicion rushes across Angie’s face. Peggy bites the inside of her cheek. Then Angie squeezes her hand, and smiles a little, and Peggy sighs a little in relief.

"And you couldn’t have just said yes?" Jarvis looks annoyed as hell, but maybe that’s just because he’s trying to gauge the exact right amount of sugar packets he should put in his coffee and he’s having, well, difficulties. "You had to hang onto that ‘I’m-going-to-propose-in-her-dressing-room-after-her-first-show-as-a-lead-in-a-play’ idea?"
"I’ve already bribed the stage manager so she’ll let me in after the performance, and I just got the ring fitted." Peggy’s voice is curt. "Besides, even you thought it was a good idea originally.”
"Of course," Jarvis says promptly. "That was before she asked you to marry her, though." He pauses, takes a sip of coffee, and makes a disgusted face. "What did you even say to her?"
"I got her to take it back." Peggy’s a little proud of herself, honestly. Not that Angie isn’t totally aware of what’s going on now. Peggy wasn’t exactly subtle.
Jarvis rolls his eyes.
