"A family" details of the murals inside the dining room of Casa Cuseni, Taormina, Sicily (1910) - Sir Frank William Brangwyn (British, 1867 - 1956)
Casa Cuseni is a mansion in Taormina whose building was commissioned to Sir William Brangwyn by english painter Robert Hawthorn Kitson. Kitson lived as an expatriate in Taormina with his partner Carlo Siligato. In 1908, the couple de facto adopted and raised Francesco, an orphaned child found in the rubble of the devastating Messina earthquake. This mural is considered the first depiction of same-sex parenting in visual arts.
