"There is nothing like a dream to create the future"-Victor Hugo
The future is definitely a scary thing to think about when you have no plans set in stone!
As most of you know, I am no longer apart of the rock outfit, "Issues". I wanted to take this time to fill you in on my future plans.
I've spent most of this summer trying to decide if I wanted take offers from other bands, both signed and unsigned, to play for, if I wanted to just start working a regular day job and go to academic school, or go to a music school.
I've decided that I'm going to attend the Musicians Institute of Hollywood this fall. I chose this because although I feel like I am a good drummer, I'm not as versatile as I'd like to be and I owe to myself and all of the musicians I'll play with in the future to be better. I long for the knowledge that will broaden my horizons and push me to the next level of drumming. This is not to say that people who don't go to school aren't versatile or incredible, this is just the way I have chosen to help achieve my goals.
Yes, this means I will not be on the road for a little while(18 month program) but no, that doesn't mean I'll never be out again.
I plan to make connections as well as many friends out at MI when I move LA in mid-september.
One of my biggest fears is to become irrelevant. My selfies and ranting on Twitter can only take me so far, so I'd love for you all to tell me how I can stay a part of your lives! Whether it's little videos each week, or anything else like that!
I'd like to thank all of the bands that have offered me a drum spot, I'd like to thank all the fans that have supported me and I'd like to thank the guys in Issues for giving me the opportunity that I was given to tour, meet people and improve in my drumming.
I love you all and I can't wait to prove myself to everyone that I'll be the drummer I believe I can be.
