I think Casey was in their year. Remember the flashback when he was in the class with Weevil, Veronica and Duncan where Casey outed Weevil as using song lyrics. I think that indicates they were in the same year together.
I remember someone saying that he was a senior in season 1, though. And I think it’s fairly common to have advanced placement classes mix upperclassmen and underclassmen, they did in my classes in high school. And I assume that was some kind of advanced/higher than standard English class because of the non-traditional beanbag chairs and relaxed class atmosphere? Of course that could just be the way the hippie mooncalf collective teacher teaches…
