Heartland - 8x17 - All I Need is You

"I love heartland It's been a great show, I just wished they stick to the storyline. For fans that watch, we keep up. Example, one minute there's a pic of their late mom and it doesn't look like the actress who played her. Then one minute Lou couldn't waitress and got fired and the next she owns it and knows what customers want. Then there's Lisa who is rich but is in jeopardy of losing her horse breeding ranch. There's many tiny loopholes, like Ty's mother, she raised him but didn't? The inconsistency of Ashley's character is funny, one minute she's Amy's arch enemy ("Ashley just drives me insane" ) the next their lifelong friends. I just wish they'd keep up with the storyline. Like Val was a villain in the beginning but she's Jack's friend? Bailing out Caleb for the Bartlett family sake. I sorta can't believe no one else has pointed this out. I do love the show though, and Amber Marshall has made it become the hit it is! She absolutely gorgeous with the horses. I think the worst is the Ty episodes, anybody ever think boy this boy, fell off a cliff, had a motorcycle wreck, had a plane wreck, etc and the boy is still alive but partly klutz?? I just know the stories could have been a bit better. Heck I could have written some things in there for a laugh here and there! And Tim please stay with one woman if you're worried about your girls and the dynamics of your relationship with them! Remember the Callie thingy?? Then it's full force to Janice, Casey, Miranda, Jessica like wow!! Womanizers ok??

HL Ep. 1409 Review--Find Me in the Dark

I really enjoyed Find Me in the Dark, written by the almost always impressive Mark Haroun. 

The sadness seems to be lifting, and people are starting to enjoy life again without feeling guilty about it.

PROs:

Was I the only one to be surprised by how pleasant Clyde seemed at the start, and how cheerily Georgie greeted him? The early impression I had of him from Quinn was that he was pretty terrible. Georgie, however, doesn't seem to be too troubled by the guy, and one would think she would be stand-offish towards him due to her dating Quinn.

Yes, Mr. McGregor has high expectations for his son, and that ultimatum was not cool at all, but I'm glad Quinn stood his ground and that Clyde eventually relented.

Amy talking with Jack about her dreams she had with Ty... Clyde's offer is a big one, but Amy's reservations are sound. That said, it is rather enticing to be able to train up a new generation of "horse whisperers". Amy should think about that one a little more, in my opinion. There just might be some young folks out there with a gift for dealing with horses who could use her mentoring.

Ah, the backyard hockey rink. Can't get more Canadian than that! If hockey becomes Katie's “thing”, this opens up a new avenue for more stories. (Not everyone in the Bartlett-Fleming clan has to be into horses all the time, right?)

Poor Tim. The guy really can't catch a break when it comes to his relationships. I suspect Jessica Cook was really spooked by his very kind gesture. The darkroom was a lovely idea, especially after Tim ruined that roll of film she was trying to develop in that makeshift darkroom at the Dude Ranch. I hope she comes back, because I could get to like her more than I liked Casey. (Side note: it was entirely cute how Tim used Lisa as the go-between to even get the root cellar to use as a darkroom. Lisa certainly does bring out Jack's generous side. LOL.)

The only CON I saw is the Lou/Mitch situation.

I may be in the minority, but Mitch and Lou are not suited for each other. The whole “Mitch wants kids of his own” thing might not be a “deal-breaker”, but it's a HUGE red flag, and something these dolts should have discussed BEFORE getting engaged. Mitch can't expect to play the field indefinitely while sowing his wild oats, and then expect Lou to be on board with this all of a sudden. I mean, maybe she comes around and accepts kids that come of their union, and that would be fine if they're both eye-to-eye. I could say much more about the topic, but I won't. It's an entirely exasperating situation. Communication has always been a problem in Lou's relationships, and it's sinking this one yet again.

All-in-all, great episode (it's a rare episode indeed when Mark Haroun's scripts aren't great), with beautiful shots and music. Thumbs up to Michelle Morgan's debut directing (for Heartland, anyway) effort.

Hoping now for a 15th season as this one has blown by like nothing.
