Mozambique
Large silver bromide hand print from my meteorite series looking at the Widmanstätten pattern. Series is called ‘Late Heavy Bombardment’. Shot at the Natural History Museum in London. The pattern is a distinct structure that cannot be made on Earth and only formed inside a large mass with a metallic core around 4.5 billion years ago. These large masses were sized somewhere between the Moon and Mars but a huge collision smashed them apart. The fragments I photographed were the interiors of what would have gone on to be other planets in our solar system. I find this pattern to be extraordinarily beautiful and given that it was created 4.5 billion years ago I believe that it is natural phenomena like this which underpin our own aesthetics and informs what humans perceive to be beautiful.
