Relating to this past episode...
Ok so when I was watching this 13x06 episode I was of course so much looking forward to this big reveal that
1- Cas is alive
and
2- how Dean gonna respond to this fact.
To be honest all week I was just seething and giving my self a headache because I had so much inner tormoil on how this scene would unfold and let’s just say, Mabye it’s because of my overwhelming hindsight bias on things but I’m not surprised it turned out as it did.
This whole season dean has been a whirlwind of sadness and depression because of all thing things he’s lost and continued to lose. He literally said that he just needed a win, and that win was Castiel.
To me in all the seasons, it dosent matter what happened to Dean he could be breaking apart inside but he would always try to do his job with complete and utter caution and discretion. Making sure everyone he loves is safe and protected and out of harms way.
So when I’m just laying in bed thinking how he would approach Castiel, it’s safe to say that he could’ve done so with a cautious mindset... but he didn’t.
He didn’t break out the silver
No splashes of holy water
No raised guns
Or salt rounds
He stepped out of the car with that astonished and dumbfounded look of amazement and strolled up to cas like he was an oasis in the desert .
Dean looked like he could finally breathe because Castiel was there and alive and after weeks of just being beaten down and feeling nothing but and overwhelming sense helplessness here is, right in front of him, the thing he wanted most.
Dean wanted cas back so badly that he trusted whoever this was to be the real cas himself. Overlooking if this could be a dangerous situation and he could be walking into a trap.
But also I have the feeling that because he just trusted It was Castiel, he really knows who Castiel is. He is everything to Dean and Dean was not coping without him.
Some people in the fandom are upset on how they’re reunion was too undershot, that it should’ve been just... more. But honestly I think this show Deans emotions perfectly. Deans never had the one to let his emotions come shooting out. I wasn’t looking for all the tears and 20min hugs but just... a breath. That’s what we got.
Sam said that he didn’t even know what to say and Dean said “I do” and hugged him, he looked like he was just coming up from drowning. When cas asked how long he was gone and he said it’s been too long he looked like his prayers have finally been answered. I’m so happy on how this episode transpired and unraveld but mabye it’s just me 🤷🏾♀️
